Janet Jackson's tenth studio album will be released in Feburary 2008. Jackson has been working with producers such as Polow Da Don, Pharrell, Jazze Pha and Johnta Austin.

Production

In June 2007, Janet Jackson began work on her tenth studio album, Janet recorded in Miami for three months at the Circle House Studios with LA Reid. [1]

In July, 2007 Jermaine Dupri confirmed that Janet has signed a new record contract with Island Def Jam.

On July 20, 2007, Polow Da Don revealed in an exclusive interview with SOOH.com that his focus in the studio with Janet right now is to give her a club hit, as opposed to just a radio hit.

"I just feel like, the music's different from the last time she was 'it,'" he said in the interview.

"I'm gonna dig deep, I'm gonna give her my best, and I'm gonna put her in the club 'cause that's where the kids register what's a hit," he explained. "So, we could have the radio hits with her all day. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Jermaine [Dupri] and a lot of people can do that for her, but my particular focus is gonna be the clubs."

On July 19, 2007 R&B singer-songwriter Johnta Austin told UrbanBridgez.com in an exclusive interview that he is working on new tracks with Janet.

"We just came back from Miami and started on Janet's new CD, which is going to be hot," Austin told the website after he was asked what projects he is currently working on.

The Dream Nash, the man who co-wrote Rihanna's recent smash hit "Umbrella," has told Blender Magazine also in an exclusive interview that he is preparing to begin working on a collaboration with Janet as well as Akon

Gospel singer Tonex also said in a recent interview that him and popular R&B producer Rodney Jerkins (a.k.a. "Darkchild") are preparing to begin working on new tracks for Janet's upcoming album.

In September, 2007 Janet confirmed that "there is a possibility" that she may be working with Ne-Yo on the album.

When asked how far she has gotten into the recording process, Janet responded that she is "just in the beginning stages." Dupri, however, contradicted her and said that she has been recording music "everyday" and the album will be coming out "soon."

At an October conference to promote "Why Did I Get Married?," Janet confirmed that as of now Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are not involved in her upcoming album that she is currently recording "It's still me. I'm still doing myself, really. The reason why I'm saying this is because as of right now, I'm not working with (longtime collaborators) Jimmy (Jam) and Terry (Lewis). And if we're really going to work together on this album, I don't know. I'm not quite sure. ... Hopefully we can and we'll get together and be able to do at least a couple of things together"

On October 12 , [2007]] Jermaine Dupri, while doing an interview to promote his new book, told MTV.com that Janet has recorded a duet with rock band Maroon 5 and it will appear on her new album "Probably in February or March or the summer," JD said. "It's 45 percent done. [Singer/songwriter] The-Dream has a song on her album, [as does] Rodney Jerkins. It's gonna be a crazy album. It's a Janet record. I'm A&R-ing, and I'm probably going to be the [executive producer]. But I'm getting records she likes [and] pulling records from other people. She has a duet with Maroon 5. Just little things."

In a live telephone interview this morning with Atlanta's Q100.5, Janet said that her new album will be released in the first quarter of the new year.

"So that means sometime before March," she explained.

She's currently working on the album in Atlanta and said that Jermaine Dupri has not yet done any work on the project.
