List of Arthur characters

This is a list of characters that are featured in the PBS Kids GO! series Arthur.

The children

• Arthur Timothy Read is the title character of the series. He is a third grade student at Lakewood Elementary in Elwood City. He has two younger sisters, Dora Winifred (D.W.) and Kate. He possess a sincere partially towards reading, watching television, playing sports, playing piano, and spending time with his friends.

• Alan "The Brain" Powers is one of Arthur's friends and classmates. He is an only chilid who excels in academics and athletics. Despite his academic prowess, Brain is aquaphobic and is reluctant to speak publicly. When he uses his intelligence to assess a situation, he often comes up with bizarre and often illogical ideas. He also spends his free time working at his parents' ice cream parlor, while also managing a career as an amateur soccer player. Also, Brain and his family celebrate Kwanzaa as revealed in Arthur's Perfect Christmas.

• Alberto Molina is one of Arthur’s newer neighbors. He became a character in the season during season six, following the departure of Mr. Sipple. Alberto and his family hail from Ecuador. He practices kendo in his spare time, and enjoys reading "El Conejo Bionico," the Spanish version of Bionic Bunny.

• Binky Barnes is one of Arthur's friends and classmates. Binky is a stereotypical bully, who secretly harbors sensitive and caring feelings. He enjoys studying the fine arts, including playing the clarinet and preforming ballet. He is also a victim of peer pressure, as he resents showing interest in the fine arts and poetry in fear of losing his threatening image. Binky is also ashamed of his many weaknesses, such as his inept academic abilities, peanut allergies, and fear of the dark. He is also the leader of a “bully clique”, known as the Tough Customers, which in later seasons began to take on more noble endeavors.

• Buster Baxter is Arthur’s best friend. A jolly and upbeat figure, Buster enjoys watching television, reading works of science fiction, and playing video games. Despite suffering from asthma, he plays soccer and the Tuba. Buster lives with his mother, Bitzi, and occasionally travels with his father. Buster also had his own spin-off series, entitled "Postcards from Buster."

• Francine Alice Frensky Francine is a tomboy who loves sports, drumming and singing. (But she cannot do both at the same time very well.) Her blunt, outspoken demeanor can sometimes have a negative effect on her relationships with friends and relatives. Her family is less affluent than other families depicted in Arthur; Francine's father is a sanitation engineer and the family lives in a two bedroom apartment. They are Jewish and of Polish descent, although she and her family celebrate Hanukkah, it is revealed that she has a grandpa that is an Orthodox Catholic. Francine commonly wears a red sweater and blue jeans. In a recent dance class, George and Francine were paired up as dance partners. They were one of the couples chosen to compete in a city dance competition, which Francine and George won second place in.

• Katherine Frensky Francine's older sister, around 16 years old. Like most teenage girls, she reads teen magazines and hogs the phone regularly. She wears a blue vest over a pale shirt, and always wears her hair in a ponytail. She and Francine often clash, and Francine has been known to be jealous of Katherine or resentful that she is compared to her older sister so often.

• Dora Winifred "D.W." Read: is Arthur's little sister. She always bothers Arthur and she is about 4 years old. She commonly wears a pink dress. She is a picky eater, can throw large tantrums and hates her name. She attends preschool with the Tibble twins. She has an imaginary friend named Nadine. D.W causes a lot of trouble for Arthur. She has a fright for Dark Bunny, Octopuses, The Gingerbread Man and finally losing her beloved toy unicorn Uni to the Tible Twins which is described in the episode Hic or Treat.

• Emily: Emily attends preschool and is D.W.'s closest friend. D.W. is often jealous of Emily, because she receives a higher allowance than D.W. and has a French au pair. Emily originally had short yellow hair and a red floral-patterned dress until Season 6, when Emily returned from her vacation to France with longer yellow hair, a blue floral-patterned dress, and a profound chin. Also, she celebrated her sixth birthday in one episode, but her age has dropped back to four.

• Fern Walters*: Fern is very quiet, shy, and something of an introvert, but can be rather snappy if provoked. She is interested in poetry, mysteries (particularly Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie), singing, and reading the comic book adventures of ZutZut (a parody of the Tintin comics). Her mother, Doria, is constantly trying to get Fern to become more extroverted, and even Fern herself sometimes worries she is "too quiet". She is known for her realistic storytelling, especially when telling scary stories, inspired after reading Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, and even writing fanfiction stories using her own characters Essie Beauchap and Felicity Bonchance under her pen name "Agatha Shelly" (a play on the names of famous writers Agatha Christie and Mary Shelly)

• George Nordgren/Lundgren*: George's family is Swedish. In earlier episodes, he is shy and talks through the use of a ventriloquist's dummy in the form of a giraffe named Wally. He also has reading problems because of dyslexia and one time got into listening to blues music. George also has a winning streak in the periodic Lakewood Elementary School talent shows for bouncing around on a pogo stick. He helps Arthur's baseball team beat a team lead by the seemingly invincible Francine by use of strategy and observation rather than skill and power. In "George Blows His Top", Buster calls his mother "Mrs. Nordgren", but in "The Making of Arthur" Matt Damon calls him "George Lundgren". In a recent dance class, George and Francine were paired up as dance partners. They were one of the couples chosen to compete in a city dance competition, which Francine and George won second place in.

• James MacDonald: Molly's little brother who attends D.W.'s preschool class. He goes unnamed until the eighth season, when D.W. is jealous of Emily's having kissed a boy and decides to pursue James romantically.

• Jenna Morgan*: Jenna is a minor character in Arthur's grade. She plays badminton, helps coach soccer, received an Athlete of the Year award from Michelle Kwan, and is allergic to milk. Jenna suffers from nocturnal enuresis.

• Kaitlyn "Baby Kate" Read: Baby Kate is Arthur and D.W.'s baby sister. She's been shown to be able to communicate with Pal and other animals in some of the episodes.

• Marina Datillo: Prunella's best friend. She is blind and is obsessed with Henry Screever, the show's parody of Harry Potter. She and Prunella met when Prunella unwillingly received a Braille edition of the latest Henry Screever and let Marina borrow it, and since then they have become inseparable. Marina is notably good at yoga and joined Prunella and her mother, Wanda, in their early-morning yoga routine. In one episode, she is seen in a Mighty Mountain soccer uniform. In another, she is in a Lakewood uniform.

• Meilin: Binky's little sister who was adopted from China. In her debut (at the Chinese restaurant), she was talking to Baby Kate. She and her brother are very close to each other.

• Mary Alice "Muffy" Crosswire*: (a chimpanzee) As it happens, Muffy is Francine's best friend, though they are opposites in many ways. She is the wealthiest girl in school, the stereotypical rich/spoiled girl. She tends to be extremely self-centered, and like Francine, her behavior occasionally leads her into trouble with her friends. Muffy is quite infamous for her occasional plagiarism, or as the characters in the show call it, being a "credit thief". Muffy has a love for boy bands, opera, and shopping. Additionally, it is revealed in Arthur, It's Only Rock 'n' Roll that Muffy plays the tambourine. She also plays violin in the school band. In "The Lousy Week" episode, she is seen playing drums with mallets. Her father is the owner of a used-car dealership, Crosswire Motors -- the main source of the family's fortune. In the first season of the program, Muffy has buck teeth. These disappear in all future seasons. Muffy commonly wears a purple dress.

• Molly MacDonald: Molly is close friends with Binky, and is a member of a group of bullies called the Tough Customers (well, about as tough as they could get). She is known to be good at giving advice. Molly has short brown hair that completely covers her eyes. She has a little brother named James who is in D.W.'s preschool class. In one episode, Arthur Makes Waves, she befriends Arthur and D.W.

• Prunella Deegan: Prunella is a grade above Arthur and his friends, and as a result is somewhat snobbish and condescending towards the younger kids. She is interested in yoga, psychic, and paranormal phenomena. Like Marina, she is also obsessed with Henry Screever, the show's parody of Harry Potter. She sometimes talks in a very dramatic manner.

• Rattles: Another member of the Tough Customers, in fourth grade at Lakewood. Rattles has been a Tough Customer member since the first season of the program.

• Rubella Deegan: Prunella's older teen sister. She is very spiritual and obsessed with psychic and paranormal phenomena. She is typically depicted as a mystical, and she often talks in a very dramatic tone.

• Sue Ellen Armstrong*: Sue Ellen is a recent transfer to Arthur's school. Her father is a diplomat, and so her family has lived in various spots around the world. She is interested in world culture, and has a black-belt in the martial arts. Because of this, Sue Ellen was the only character brave enough to intimidate Binky during the first few seasons.

• Timmy Tibble: One brother in a set of twins who routinely exasperate Arthur, D.W., and most everyone with their mischievous antics. Timmy wears a blue scarf and is the more mischievous of the twins.

• Tommy Tibble: The other brother in a set of twins. Tommy wears a red scarf, and D.W. once taught him to be good.

• Vicita Molina: Arthur's new neighbor who moved in after Mr. Sipple moved out, introduced in season 6. She's three and seven-eighths, in her own proud words, and often plays with D.W. and the Tibbles. Her family is from Ecuador.

NOTE: An asterix next to a kid's name represents that they are a student in Mr. Ratburn's class.

In addition, there are two other students seen in Ratburn's class:

• A boy (rabbit) wearing a peach-colored sweater and dark brown pants. His voice is heard for the first time in Elwood City Turns 100. After Francine sings "Oh Elwood City, so proud, so bold...", he rises from the audience and asks Francine what Elwood City looks like today. This intended interruption is part of the musical.

• A girl (rabbit) with shoulder-length light brown hair wearing a dark teal and pink striped top and a teal skirt.

These two characters are seen on some episodes. Their names are currently unknown.

Background characters and one-timers

• Adil: Arthur's pen pal from Istanbul, Turkey. Just like Arthur, he has an "annoying" little sister and a best friend. He appears in only one episode, Dear Adil.
• Aloysius Zimmerplotz: Aloysius Zimmerplotz had trouble writing his own name correctly and often runs out of room. (due to in the episode 'D.W's Library Card' when he said 'Oh no! I ran out of room!') He was mentioned briefly in the episode where D.W. and the Tibbles want to get their own library card, when Timmy compares his name to D.W.'s. After D.W. got her own library card, she questioned Aloysius if he checked out the "Hop-Along the Frog" book but Aloysius told D.W. that he checked out "Chippy the Choo Choo" instead.
• Coach Ragett: Appeared in the episode "The 'A' Team" as the coach of the Elwood City All Stars, although he had an earlier appearance in the episode "Arthur Goes to Camp" as an unnamed counselor of Camp Horsewater.
• Cora: Cora is the daughter of Jessica (Mrs. Read's sister) and Richard. She became the flower girl for her aunt Lucy's wedding during "D.W. Thinks Big". Cora made D.W. feel bad about not feeling important. This is the only time she has been called by name.
• Lisa: Another member of D.W.'s preschool class. One time Lisa caused D.W. to be in a very bad mood when she didn't invite her to her party.
• Mike: Buster's friend. He was chosen as Buster's "older brother" on a guidance program Buster was enrolled in in the episode Buster's New Friend. He is rarely seen afterwards.
• Monique: She is Arthur's cousin. He gets scared of her when she comes over for a family reunion because she practiced martial arts on him in the past among many things. Instead, Monique wants to show Arthur her piano skills. She says Arthur is her favorite relative. She is often called "Moe" for short.
• Otis: A kid who once took part in Mrs. Molena's dance class and later saw the dance competition with Francine and George competing in.
• Rae: Appeared in the episode "The 'A' Team" as a player for the Elwood City All Stars. Apparently a scout for the team, Rae invited Francine and Brain to a team tryout.
• Slink: One half of the two "daredevils" from Mighty Mountain, across town, introduced in the episode Buster and the Daredevils. He is a part of Binky's Tough Customers group, although seemingly he doesn't attend Lakewood Elementary. He wears a t-shirt with a lightning bolt on it. He is a rabbit-person like Molly. He and his friend Toby (see below) once played a Beavis and Butthead parody video game called "Peabrain and Nuthead." They tricked Buster into doing foolish things by daring him.
• Tenzing: He lives in Tibet. He is Sue Ellen's sponsored "brother".
• Thruster: A rabbit, who resembles Buster in the future. Binky sees him when he dreams in which he (Binky) ended up in the “World of Yesterday” museum exhibit instead of the “World of Tomorrow” exhibit after being asleep for 200 years (although it turns out it was just a dream). Thruster only appears once in this episode.
• Toby: The other half of the two "daredevils" from Mighty Mountain across town. A one-off character introduced in the episode Buster and the Daredevils. Unlike Slink, he is not part of the Tough Customers.

The adults

• Mr. Armstrong: Sue Ellen's father, a diplomat.
• Mrs. Armstrong: Sue Ellen's mother, is a homemaker with a penchant for exotic clothes.
• Bailey: Muffy's chauffeur and sometimes the Crosswire Family's butler. He also has a notable talent in creating kinetic art, and follows Muffy's orders without question, even when told to drive the Crosswire limo in quite dangerous fashion. Although in one episode he was called James.
• Mr. Barnes: Binky's father.
• Mrs. Barnes: Binky's mother, a nurse.
• Bitzi Baxter: Buster's mom, the editor-in-chief of the Elwood City Times. She's overprotective of Buster and a frantic character. She dated a man named Harry Mills who works at the newspaper for a couple seasons. Buster developed a real attachment to Harry, but Bitzi broke up with him because, although they really like each other, she wanted more time to pursue other interests.
• Bo Baxter: Buster's father, who is divorced. He is a pilot. Buster flies with him around the United States in the spin-off Postcards from Buster series. In Postcards from Buster, he is shown with short brown hair and glasses. However, during his few appearances in earlier seasons of Arthur, his face is noticeably hidden from view, for instance behind a newspaper. He looks almost exactly like Harry, Bitzi Baxter's former boyfriend. His physical appearance has changed several times.
• Coach Biltwell: The Lakewood Elementary School Gym teacher.
• Ms. Brian: The Lakewood Elementary School Art teacher.
• David L. Read: Arthur and D.W.'s father. Mr. Read runs a catering business from home and is frequently shown garnishing trays of hors d'oeuvres in the family kitchen. In some older episodes, his first name is said to be "Nigel", creating strange inconsistencies. In the episode "D.W. Aims High," Arthur's dad hinted that he was born in 1961.
• Doria Walters: Fern's mother. She works for a real estate company and is very confident and encouraging in her daughter.
• Edward Crosswire: Muffy's father, the owner of a car dealership called "Crosswire Motors". It was revealed that he never attended college; rather he received an honorary degree after his donation of a library. He is also the coach of the soccer team.
• Mrs. Fink: The final third grade teacher at Lakewood Elementary School. Like Mrs. Sweetwater, she always did fun things with her class. She was seen in Arthur and the Real Mr. Ratburn, but has rarely been seen since.
• Dr. Frederick Fugue: Once taught Arthur piano lessons and later filled in for Ms. Krasny to take Mr. Ratburn's class to Crown City for a singing chorus field trip. He seems to have perfect pitch because he was able to tell that a car horn was needed to be tuned when it played a C#.
• Fritz Langley: Caretaker of the Elwood City Community Garden who sometimes suffers from arthritis in his hands while working. Most likely a reference to the 1920s German film director Fritz Lang
• "Grandma" Thora Read: Grandma Thora is Arthur and D.W.'s paternal grandmother, who is quite caring, but tends towards being a bad cook. Grandma Thora is based on Brown's own grandmother Thora, who encouraged him by saving his childhood drawings in a bottom drawer.
• "Grandpa" Dave: an aardvark. Grandpa Dave is Arthur and D.W.'s maternal grandfather. He lives on the family farm which has been in the family for 150 years.
• Harry Mills: Works at Bitzi's newspaper as a sports writer. Bitzi started dating him for a couple of seasons, but then broke off because she wanted more time to pursue other interests.
• Herbert Haney: Mr. Haney is the lovable yet absentminded principal of Arthur's school. He, like George, suffers from dyslexia. He also seems to have bad luck: something goes wrong almost everywhere he goes.
• Mr. Higgins: The Elwood City mail carrier who once told Buster during Buster's week long job as school mail delivery boy the G.L.A.D. mail proceedure.
• Dr. Iris: She was the eye doctor who suggested that Arthur needed glasses in the first episode "Arthur's Eyes". (In the original Arthur book "Arthur's Eyes", Dr. Iris is a fox.)
• Jane Read: Arthur and D.W.'s mother. Mrs. Read is a work-at-home tax accountant.
• Jessica: Jane's sister. She is married to Richard and has a daughter, Cora. She appears in the episode "D.W. Thinks Big" for her sister Lucy's wedding.
• Ms. Krasny: The Lakewood Elementary School Music teacher.
• Laverne Frensky: Francine's mother.
• Loretta: Arthur's aunt on his dad's side. She is somewhat overbearing and uses the word "dear" a lot when speaking to Arthur's mother at the family reunion.
• Lucy: Jane's younger sister. She appears in the episode "D.W. Thinks Big", where D.W. rescues the ring at Lucy's wedding.
• Mr. Marco: an aardvark. Arthur's second grade teacher. He appears in some episodes in season 1.
• Marie-Helene: Emily's French nanny.
• Millicent Crosswire: Muffy's mother who likes opera.
• Ramon Molina: Arthur's new neighbor. Moved into Mr. Sipple's house when he moved out in Season 6.
• Mrs. Molina: Arthur's new neighbor; Ramon's wife. Moved into Mr. Sipple's house when he moved out in Season 6.
• Mrs. Morgan: Jenna's mother.
• Ms. Morgan: D.W.'s preschool teacher.
• John Morris: John Morris, a Lakewood Elementary School Janitor for 6 years, had recently moved to Roswell, New Mexico to live with his daughter after breaking his leg during the Lakewood Fire, and is seen in the Postcards from Buster episode "Alien Adventure" when Buster visited New Mexico. However, the potential daughter is not seen in the show. He plays an accordion named "Beatrice", and like Buster, he suffers from asthma, believes in aliens and eats chocolate.
• Nigel Emil Ratburn III: Mr. Ratburn is Arthur and his friends' teacher. His passions are homework and puppetry; he also enjoys magic tricks and spent a summer working at Jack's Joke Shop. He is also knowledgeable about Japanese lutes, such as the Biwa, but is noticeably incompetent with computers. Even Prunella made a joke about Mr. Ratburn one time that he eats nails in a cereal bowl for breakfast. He is a fanatic of the show "Spooky Roo," the show's parody of Scooby Doo.
• Oliver Frensky: Francine's dad, who works as an sanitation engineer for the local city dump. He states he was formerly a volunteer firefighter. He is somewhat childish but optimistic in nature. He coaches the baseball team.
• Paige Turner: Ms. Turner is the friendly but strict librarian at the Elwood City Library. Originally she had brown/brunette hair until Season 11 when she sported blonde hair.
• Mrs. Pariso: Francine's next door neighbor, who is very good at horseback riding and also won prizes at Wimbledon. She banged on Francine's wall when she first moved in to their apartment building, which made Francine think she was mean, but the two became good friends in the end.
• Patty Jones: The woman who played Mary Moo Cow, who later appeared as a newscaster for the TV show "Stock Market Today".
• Mr. Powers: Brain's father.
• Mrs. Powers: Brain's mother, who owns and runs the ice cream shop. Mrs. Powers originally had brown hair for the first season, but later seasons show Mrs. Powers with yellow hair (despite evidence that Brain's family is African-American).
• Rodentia Ratburn: Mr. Ratburn's sister, who once filled in for Mr. Ratburn for a day when he was sick. Her teaching methods are notably similar to those of Mrs. Sweetwater.
• Mrs. Robertson: The Lakewood Elementary School Kindergarten teacher who is now retired. Brain was a student twice in her class.
• Mr. Sanders: The tyrant landlord who works for the apartment building where the Frensky family live. Mr. Sanders once accused Francine about the water usage and reading of water meters.
• Sarah MacGrady: Mrs. MacGrady is the lunch lady at Lakewood Elementary school, where Arthur and his friends study. She is full of unconventional wisdom, and is Grandma Thora's bingo buddy. She commonly wears a pink shirt and white pants.
• Susy Sipple: Arthur's odd next-door neighbor from Season 1 to 6, who enjoys barbecuing fish late at night and comes from a place where making faces on a bike means bring the biker a cabbage. He moves out in Season 6, and the Molinas move in to his home.
• Miss Sweetwater: She is also a third grade teacher in another Lakewood Elementary School class, she mostly does fun things to her students like singing songs (such as "I Like Fudge") on her guitar. One time Miss Sweetwater had an argument in the teacher's lounge with Mr. Haney telling him "I didn't move your cheese!" (A parody of the book Who Moved My Cheese?)
• Mrs. Tibble: The grandmother of Tommy and Timmy Tibble. (In early Arthur books, Mrs. Tibble is a human, however many newer books have her as what she is in the TV show)
• Miss Tingley: Principal Haney's secretary. One time she was afraid of Miss Sweetwater's singing and Mr. Haney's sawing-in-half magic trick.
• Mr. Walters, a dog, Fern's father who was finally first seen in Season 11 in the episode Phony Fern.
• Wanda Deegan: a rat. Prunella and Rubella's mother. She enjoys yoga and granola.
• Wilbur Rabbit: The actor who plays Bionic Bunny. Wears glasses exactly like Arthur's.
• Mrs. Woods: Perky's owner. Her grouchy dog, Perky (aka Jaws), is Pal's mother.

Minor characters

• Angie: One of Katherine's teen friends seen in Muffy Gets Mature
• Betsy: A frequent Crown City Express train rider since she was a child and later at her old age met up with Sue Ellen who found the diary that was Betsy's in the episode Strangers on a Train.
• Boris: Ringmaster of the Elwood City kid circus.
• Carl Patcheeva: Won a "combination pot holder and bath mat" gadget in 2002 in Arthur, It's Only Rock 'n' Roll.
• Daniel: An Amish rabbit Buster met during a school field trip.
• Debbie: another one of Katherine's teen friends in Muffy Gets Mature.

• Uncle Fred: Arthur's clumsy uncle and his mother's brother, introduced in 2000 in Arthur's Perfect Christmas. It is slightly stated that he has a tendency to knock down Christmas trees. He's a well-meaning guy who helps Arthur through a Christmas dilemma.
• Pickles the Clown: a clown who appears in several episodes. He is allergic to dogs.
• Ranger Jackie: Ranger of Moose Mountain state park.
• Ranger Ruth: Ranger for the dinosaur fossil tourist attraction where Buster once took a found fossil home from the field trip to the state park.
• Sally McGill: Arthur's one time babysitter in 2001 (later a babysitter for Buster) who is an expert in playing the video game Dark Bunny 6: Curse of the Moommy. Arthur develops a brief crush on her, despite the fact that she has a boyfriend named Cory.
• The President (looks an awful lot like Bill Clinton, doesn't he?): On Arthur's and DW's trip to Washington DC, DW gets lost and meets the President of the United States in the episode DW Goes to Washington.
• Tammy: Another one of Katherine's friends in Muffy Gets Mature.

Imaginary friends

• Nadine: a squirrel. D.W.'s imaginary friend. Only D.W. can see her. Rumor speculates following Nadine's dinner with Vicita's imaginary friend Trini Nadine may be getting too old for D.W. and may soon be Baby Kate's imaginary friend instead according to the episode Baby Kate and the Imaginary Mystery.
• Snooter: a pet pig owned by Nadine that was discovered under the couch by Nadine and D.W. at one time in the episode Postcards From Buster.
• Trini: a fairy. Vicita's imaginary friend who speaks English and Spanish.
• Uncle Wormy: A giant worm creature that was an imaginary friend of the Tibble Twins during a fantasy sequence when Pal and Baby Kate thought Nadine was captured by the Tibbles in the episode Baby Kate and the Imaginary Mystery.

Toys

• Stanley: Arthur's teddy bear who Arthur could not "bear" to lose. (get it, "bear"?)
• Wally: George's giraffe dummy who George uses as a comedian. Introduced in Arthur's Dummy Disaster.
• Fluffy: D.W.'s unicorn toy who D.W. wants to be in clothing. Introduced in D.W. tricks the Tooth Fairy.(Note that in Hic or Treat that Fluffy's name is Uni)
• World Girl Dolls: Muffy, Francine and Sue Ellen start to collect these feature dolls and their collectibles from different cultures.
• Funny Barn: A toy barn that D.W. plays in the episode Arthur vs. the Piano. Farm animals pop out of windows and doors. D.W. tries to hit them with a plastic mallet.
• Tina the Talking Tabby: A tabby cat who talks when you squeeze her tummy. D.W. wanted this for Christmas in Arthur`s Perfect Christmas.
• Quackers: A duck that D.W. got for Cristmas. She hated it at first, but then one of Quackers`s sayings got D.W. laughing.
• Bionic Bunny: Arthur`s favorite toy. Bionic Bunny`s hands and feet move.
• Mario Francine: An arcade game Muffy got for Christmas. It has Francine in a Mario costume avoiding barrels passing by.
• Polly Locket: Dolls that are parodies of Polly Pockets and Barbie.
• Bionic Bunny Walkie-Talkies:Walkie-Talkies that Arthur uses to communicate with friends.
• Merry Go Round: A Toy Mr. Crosswire had bought for Muffy in the episode Moon Shoes.

Pets

• Alfonz: The cat Buster rescued from a tree that made him a hero and cat saver in the episode Buster Baxter, Cat Saver.
• Amigo: The Molinas' pet bulldog. About twice the size of Pal.
• Crusher: Rattles's pet Pit Bull.
• Killer: Grandma Thora's pet dog that she found as a stray. When previously owned, she learned to be aggressive to a common visitor it sees. Later, when Grandma Thora officially owns the dog, she tells it to be nice to other visitors, especially her grandchildren. It seems that Killer is a female dog, due to her soft speech.
• Nemo: Francine's pet cat. Like Pal, he isn't anthropomorphized, but he's shown to be capable of communicating with Pal in a few of the episodes. Nemo's face was changed shortly after his premiere. He likes to mess with Pal. He was originally to be called "Rosepetal" by Catherine.
• Pal: Arthur's small pet puppy, who (like the other pets of the characters on the show) isn't anthropomorphized, though a series of episodes have shown him as being able to communicate with Baby Kate (and vice-versa). During these communications, Pal speaks in a tenor voice with an English accent.
• Perky: Mrs. Woods' dog, and Pal's mother. The mailman used to call her "Jaws" due to formerly having a mean streak.
• Rory: Uncle Fred's pet dog. White in color, about two to three times the size of Pal. Like Uncle Fred, he does silly things. Introduced and only seen in the episode Arthur's Perfect Christmas.
• Spanky: D.W.'s pet budgie and a one-off character. Died in the same episode he was introduced in Season 1 episode So Long, Spanky. In the episode I'd Rather Read It Myself, he was mentioned, but this time exaggerated to be an eagle who died, in D.W.'s words, because his heart was too big.
• Toady Wartface: D.W.'s pet toad, replaces Spanky in So Long, Spanky but never seen again until an appearance in season 7 episode The Great Sock Mystery (in which she revealed that she escaped from D.W.), and never seen again since.

Other animals or pets whose owner is unknown

• Alan Greenspaniel: A dog, and a one-off character parody of Alan Greenspan introduced in the episode The Great Sock Mystery. He runs the Sock Market (A parody of the stock market), which trades socks pets take from their owners to promote the sales of human socks for the economy.
• Bucky: A fish and one-off character that gets caught by Mr. Read in the episode D.W.'s Deer Friend, which D.W. names Bucky. It was to be the Reads' dinner, but instead ends up buried in a funeral by insistence of D.W..
• General: a head louse. In many of the Lakewood Elementary students' hair. He lost his fifth leg from a comb. He tried to invade the hair of all of the students, but ultimately fails when he gets stepped on. Only appears the "The Lousy Week" episode.
• Giant Squid: Appeared in the "April Ninth" episode. Part of a dream sequence about Arthur's dad working at an aquarium.
• Hans: A dog. Mr. Toad's transport. Apparently a one-off character introduced in the episode The Great Sock Mystery.
• Mr. Toad: A toad, and another one-off character introduced in the episode The Great Sock Mystery. He rides on a dog named Hans. Apparently, Toady Wartface knew him since they were tadpoles.
• Pepe: An Italian circus flea introduced in the episode Flea to be You and Me.
• Salè: Another Italian circus flea, Pepe's brother. Introduced in the episode Flea to be You and Me.
• Spot and Dot: Two fire truck dogs mentioned in It Came From Beyond.
• Walter: A deer that D.W. meets in the episode D.W.'s Deer Friend. D.W. wants to take Walter home despite her parents' disapproval. Walter reveals that he liked D.W. after her family left the woods, and has appeared in several of D.W.'s fantasies.

Characters That Are Based on Real People

• Bill Clinton (called The President) Although never specifically identified as Bill Clinton, the animation and voice is very close to Bill Clinton's look and voice. He appears when the Read family goes to D.C. and D.W. gets lost in the White House. At the end, he confesses to a love of pizza.
• George W. Bush: Any time after 2001, "The President" is now a rabbit that looks and sounds much like George W. Bush.
• Alex Trebek (called Alex Lebek in the episode to make it not so obvious): Alex Trebek appears in the episode Arthur and the Big Riddle as the host of the Riddle Quest game show.
• Art Garfunkel: Art Garfunkel appears in two Arthur episodes. He first appears in the episode The Ballad of Buster Baxter, and then later appears in Elwood City Turns 100! as one of the guests that Muffy invites to the play.
• Arthur Ganson: Arthur Ganson appears in the episode Muffy's Art Attack.
• The Backstreet Boys (Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, and Kevin Richardson): The Backstreet Boys appear in the episode Arthur, It's Only Rock n' Roll.
• Click and Clack, The Tappet Brothers (Tom and Ray Magliozzi): The Car Talk hosts appear in the episode Pick a Car, Any Car, where Arthur calls them about their car when it is about to go to the junkyard.
• Matt Damon: Matt Damon apears in the episode The Making of Arthur as the host of a show "Postcards from You" (inspired by the "Postcards from You" segment that has been the mid-show feature on Arthur since Season 11 and the feature on the second season of "Postcards from Buster").
• Edgar Renteria: Edgar Renteria also appears in The Curse of the Grebes also playing a Grebe.
• Frank Gehry: Frank Gehry appears in the episode Castles in the Sky, and helps the gang create a new tree house, although they don't know he is Frank Gehry until he gives them a signed photo of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
• Fred Rogers: Mr. Rogers appears on the episode Arthur Meets Mr. Rogers. He visits Arthur's house and Arthur is embarrassed because he thinks that Mr. Rogers Neighborhood is a baby show. Other people think that too. But, when Mr. Rogers comes for a visit to Arthur's class, they all change their minds when Binky says "Wow, can I have your autograph too?" to Arthur.
• Jack Prelutsky: Jack Prelutsky appears on the episode I'm a Poet, as the judge of a poetry contest. At the end of the contest, he can't decide who's the winner, so he says "I hate contests. You all win".

Larry King

• Johnny Damon: Johnny Damon also appears in The Curse of the Grebes, also playing a member of the Elwood City Grebes.
• Joshua Redman: Joshua Redman also appears in the episode My Music Rules as Francine's second-cousin-twice-removed, who they call "Uncle Josh". He gets invited by Arthur and Francine.
• J. P. Morgan: J. P. Morgan appears in Elwood City Turns 100!, during a flashback to the city's dedication by President Theodore Roosevelt.
• Koko Taylor: Koko Taylor appears in the episode Big Horns George, and is Alan "The Brain"'s favorite blues musician.
• Larry King: Larry King appears in the "And Now a Word From Us Kids" section of the episode Elwood City Turns 100! and interviews the gang.

Theodore Roosevelt

• Michelle Kwan: Michelle Kwan appears in the episode The Good Sport, as the host of the Athlete of the Year Award at Lakewood Elementary. It is also said that she graduated from Lakewood Elementary in that series.
• Mike Timlin: Mike Timlin appears in the episode The Curse of the Grebes, playing a member of the Elwood City Grebes.
• Ming Tsai: Ming Tsai appears in the episode What's Cooking?.
• Rodney Gilfry: Rodney Gilfry appears in the episode Lights, Camera, Opera as he has a role in the Carmen opera that Muffy and Ed Crosswire see.
• Taj Mahal: Taj Mahal also appears in the episode Big Horns George with Koko Taylor.
• Theodore Roosevelt: President Theodore Roosevelt dedicates Elmwood City during a flashback in Elwood City Turns 100!
• Yo-Yo Ma: Yo-Yo Ma appears in the episode My Music Rules with Joshua Redman. He is the musician that D.W. invites (D.W. tended to call him "Yo Mama").
