This phrase was a slogan of the nineteenth century Christian Restorationist, or Christian Zionist movement which aimed to fulfill a Biblical prophecy by encouraging the Jews to return to their ancient homeland, Israel. It was coined by Anthony Ashley-Cooper, Lord Shaftsbury. In July 1853, Shaftesbury wrote to Foreign Minister George Hamilton Gordon , Earl of Aberdeen, that the Holy Land was “a country without a nation” in need of “a nation without a country… Is there such a thing? To be sure there is, the ancient and rightful lords of the soil, the Jews!” Adam M. In 1897 American John Lawson Stoddard urged the Jews, “You are a people without a country; there is a country without a people. Be united. Fulfill the dreams of your old poets and patriarchs. Go back, go back to the land of Abraham.” John L. Stoddard. Lectures: Illustrated and Embellished with Views of the World’s Famous Places and People, Being the Identical Discourses Delivered During the Past Eighteen Years under the Title of the Stoddard Lectures, Vol. 2. 1897), as cited in Garfinkle, “On the Origin, Meaning, Use and Abuse of a Phrase.”

The phrase is widely mis-attributed to the Zionist movement. [Edward Said] incorrectly attributed the origin of the phrase to [Israel Zangwill.] Edward Said, The Question of Palestine, (New York: Times Books, 1979), p. 9.

While Zangwill did use the phrase, he wrote in the December 1901 New Liberal Review that “Palestine is a country without a people; the Jews are a people without a country,” he did not coin it. Edward Said and many other anti-Zionist writers are also incorrect in their interpretation of the phrase. Said cites the phrase as “a land without people,” and accuses Zionists of believing or asserting that the land west of the Jordan was empty. But the Christian restorations who used the phrase were well aware that the land was not empty. Stoddard was a professional travel writer who used the phrase in a book describing his journey through the Holy Land. Zangwill first visited Israel in 1897. He knew that it was inhabited.

The meaning of the phrase was not that the Holy Land was empty of “people,” but that it was not in the nineteenth century the home of “a people,” or “a nation” since the Arab inhabitants of that era considered themselves to be part of the great Arab people, rather then a people limited to the piece of land variously known as Israel, the Holy Land, or Palestine.

Making Lite of Myself

The second John Pinette CD Making Lite of Myself is the usual really good stuff by a stand-up comic who always delivers. Having seen the early days of this show last year at one of the many sold out John Pinette Just For Laughs shows, having watched the two Pinette DVDs, I Say Nay Nay (the one with the ugly cover) and I'm Starvin', there are familiar routines on this CD but any Pinette fan will very much enjoy Making Lite of Myself. The only repeat from his first CD Show Me The Buffet is the joke about noticing his weight loss in his face.

It is no surprise John Pinette spends a lot of time doing autobiographical material. He says he would rather make lite of himself than make jokes about others and be mean. Of course, Pinette discusses his latest dieting and healthy eating habits such as following the Subway diet and consulting with just about every form of nutritionist including a herbalist and trying the Atkins diet.

Not everything this stand-up comedian does is related to food and dieting. John Pinette is also very good at making fun of his many misadventures. This time around he tries out extreme sports such as skiing and camping in Stephen King country.

There is not a bad moment on Making Lite of Myself, the second Pinette CD. I enjoyed his family related misadventures after he bought a house to be closer to his loved ones. He learns the hard way a home is not quite the same as a hotel room and he should not have hired his sister as his interior decorator.

Also very funny on Making Lite of Myself is Pinette's European food tour. Nobody likes English food and Pinette is no exception. His take on French food and wine tours is excellent. No John Pinette performance is complete without a routine about buffets and a really funny song on the topic.

Michael Pachella is a god of the the local New Jersey communicational and reputational committee of the animal abundance society. Many of his projects have included slaying of the crickets and bantering of the livestock. His books "Theres too many bugs" has been stolen by many organizations. He loves everyone. Even turtles. sometimes. Most importantly he would do anything for a klondik bar.

LIKES AND DISLIKES

Nolen Wellington enjoys playing his xbox 360. He also enjoys long walks on the beach with his lab named mitsy. Nolen loves achievements. Some of the things he doesnt like are cats. He also hates sushi. IIICKKK!!

History

Nolen grew up in a small town called Northfield, New Hampshire. He was a trouble young boy with ADHD and the bird flu. But he later became the greatrst Xbox player to date with 145,654 gamer score. Now he resides in a small cottage with his Xbox and his good pal barry. They are best friends. Nolen usally shops at walmartand buys lots of mircrosoft points.

Nolen has a variety of vehicles that include a scooter, dumptruck, and a ski lift. o and a punch buggie for barry.

Nolen's school life

He goes to school at WRHS. A school in da ghetto. He gets lots of A+'s.

Nolens crime life

Nolen formed a gang called the oak hill killas. He has been charged with many assualts and robberies but has never been imprisoned. Barry his Capo nick named "Blazin Barry" or "Shedar Schroader". Barry was recently in a fatal ego hit in which he was forced into exile. Nolen or "The Big N" has recently retired from his gang life. Due to the upcoming of his rival.

Kind Eyes Around the World

Kind Eyes Around the World is a Web 2.0 community that gives experienced photographers as well as the amateur photographer to share photos of people's faces around the world that would be noted for their kind eyes. Visitors of this online community can upload their photos from anywhere. The site does not support pornographic or offensive material and is open to all ages.

About the Creator

This site was a project put forth by Dr. Donald A. Gogniat, the former Chief Executive Officer of the York Campus of Penn State University. The idea came to him in his travels around the world working with the Semester at Sea program out of the University of Virginia.

Purpose

This site is important in our evolving world. It gives mankind a retreat and proof that there is still peace and kindness in a world filled with terrorism and violence. Knowing this, we as humans can take pride in preserving what peace there is and holding on to it.

The Farm

Le Ferme de Metras is a family run sheep dairy located in Lewis County, WA between the towns of Pe Ell, WA and Doty, WA. It is located about 2 hours South of Seattle and 2 hours North of Portland. According to their web site, their mission is not only to produce high quality artisan dairy pruducts, but also to increase public awareness about natural artisan farm products and to provide a place of education and hospitality for friends and family.

Time Line

In 2005, the founders purchased the 150 acre property located along the banks of the Chehalis River and brought in their foundation sheep. In 2006, they began selling natural lamb. In 2007, they began milking the sheep. According to their web site (www.metrasfarm.com) they plan to be selling sheep cheese by Winter 2008.

Vosque (pronounced: väsk or vawsk)

Vosque hosts contests that are an attempt at getting rising artists a bit of publicity.

The form to submission can be found by clicking the submit tab at www.vosque.com[2] or by going directly to vosque submit form[3]

Vosque is going to have the largest peer reviewed contest gallery on the net in which all pictures are through the google image search by midway through 2008.

In 2010 Vosque is going to construct an art museum where all art submitted is reviewed selected and then auctioned off to the highest bidder, upon which some percent of the proceeds will go to supplying clean water to children throughout the world.

Also called Steven Tate(born sometime in November in Richmond,CA) he is mostly known as the main Burger guy on Xavier University of Louisiana campus. He was born in Richmond, California where he learned how to become on of the best basketball players in Richmond averaging over 40 points a game and 19 assist and surprisingly turned down a full scholarship to play college basketball at Duke University. He is currently living a low key lifestyle while at Xavier University by changing his major a record breaking 5 times in a week. He plays in a band that was Poo. and loves to dance his krumping name is Steveburger Steve. His hobbys are playing XBOX 360,eating,and sleeping.

Elena was daughter of bulgarian Emperor Ivan Asen II and Empress Anna Maria of Hungary. Anna was originally named Mária.

Elena was bulgarian princess and Empress of Nicaea. She was married to Theodore II Laskaris, who was Emperor of Nicaea, 1254–1258. Princess Elena is sister of Emperor Kaliman I of Bulgaria and Princess Tamara of Bulgaria. Her maternal grandfather and grandmother are King Andrew II of Hungary and Gertrude of Merania and her paternal grandfather and grandmother are Emperor Ivan Asen I of Bulgaria and Empress Elena of Bulgaria.

Elena and Theodore had three children: John IV Laskaris, Eirene Doukaina Laskarina, who married Constantine Tikh of Bulgaria, and Maria Doukaina Laskarina, who married Nikephoros I Komnenos Doukas of Epirus.

Theodore died in 1259 and her son John Laskaris became Emperor of Nicaea. John was only severn years old and there were regency.

About Dani Koenig

Renowned electronic music producer / dj / Dani Koenig is from Zurich, Switzerland. Dani’s father was a jazz musician with a huge record collection which seduced Dani and so began his love for music. Dani's influences range from jazz, blues, disco and all sorts of electronic music. He played drums as a kid and then he got his first sampler in 1995. His first "big" track “Disco 3000” was released on Munich D based label Kosmo in 1998. Since then he has gone on to release many records including the stand out "Break 4 Love", "Whats My Name" and "Stairs". From 1996 to 2005 Dani released several DJ Mix CDS in Switzerland and completed acclaimed remixes for artists like Moby, Tom Novy, Sonique, Alex Metric and many more. In 2005 he released a best of DJ Mix called "Fahrenheit 40/25" for Universal Music that looks back at the electronic music that influenced and inspired him. In 2006 Koenig signed for Bristol UK based label Four:Twenty Recordings and released "Hard Southamericans" including remixes by "Global Player" Loco Dice. In 2007 Koenig released the much publicised EP "Maher Amad" on 3rd Floor Records in Denmark. He is currently hard at work on new tracks and remains heavily in demand as a remixer. 2008 will also include more releases on Four:twenty Recordings, 3rd Floor Records and of course from his label Zurich. Dani’s been lighting up dance floors pursuing his dream of spreading his sublime sound to music lovers worldwide since the 1980’s. His djing sets combine the finest in upfront underground dance music there is to offer a blend of techno, minimal and house music.

NDP Dawg Pound

The NDP Dawg Pound is the student cheering section at all Scottsdale Notre Dame sporting events. They are a key part of NDP athletics, as they lead the fans in cheering for the Saints. They utilize many different chants, but the most notable are “Not In Our House”, “Fundamentals”, “OLE OLE OLE OLE”, “God’s On Our Side”, and Zombie Nation. As a group these students will utilize almost anything that makes noise for their team, and so far the list includes trashcans, pots, pans, cowbells, airhorns, and a symbol. The “mascot” of the Dawg Pound is a small plastic figure called “Touchdown Jesus”. The Dawg Pound is obviously a force to be reckoned with when at full force, which was the most evident during the 2007 Championship volleyball season. During a game, the opposing player dove for a save and took a spike in the face for her troubles. As she stood up, there was a rousing chant of “Facial”. This clearly affected the girl, as she missed the next couple of saves and received a nice “Fundamentals” chant. For the 2007-2008 year, the Dawg Pound is being led by a select group of seniors. Spirit Coordinator Dan Harmon, Greg Grovesnor, Dan Sotelo, Zach Lewis, Derik Johnson, Mike Bosco, and Connor Eustice. However, during the football season, the Dawg Pound has expanded to include a few juniors into the group.

I'm Bringing Sexy Back!  is the rallying cry to a new generation popularized by Shawn Anthony Smith.

Mr. Smith is thought by many to have singlehandedly turned around the XBOX franchise. His fanatical enthusiasm and unceasing evangalism for the system and for Microsoft has lead a huge number of people to take up console gaming and to choose the XBOX 360 over the playstation 3.

The first recorded use of I'm Bringing Sexy Back! by Mr. Smith was early in 2004, since then it has been used countless times and has come to symbolize his life and his contributions to society.

The other phrase which is strongly associated with Mr Smith is I LOVE XBOX.

Bringing Sexy Back with an Xbox is now a way of life for a whole new generation and many attribute the popularity of the Xbox 360 largely to Mr. Smith's catchy phrase.

Paul Coyne

Paul Coyne, born July 1, 1964, grew up in Milford, Massachusetts. He graduated from Milford High School in 1982, and married Elaine Hehir on August 12, 1989. Coyne attended Fitchburg State College for film, and spent extra years in the program before officially graduating in 2005 with sufficient credits. He has had notable work in the film and entertainment industry, receiving several awards and nominations.

He has several art, writing, and film scholarships available at Milford High School, as well as women in film scholarship at FSC in the honor of Elaine, who passed from cancer in 1994. Coyne is also very involved in working with the Jimmy Fund. He manages his own website, found at [[7]].

Early Influences

As a young kid, Coyne knew he wanted to be an artist. His earliest memories are of viewing "Zebra In the Kitchen" at the Milford Cinemas. Beginning as a hobby, Coyne first picked up a Bell & Howell camera when he was 10, and combined with his skills in creative writing, began making Super-8 films. His childhood friend, Mark Cicciu, worked as a theater usher when they were young, allowing Coyne to get into movies free of charge.

It wasn't until high school, when viewing John Ford's film, "Drums Along the Mohawk," that Coyne realized he wanted to become a filmmaker.

College Career

Already a super-senior at Fitchburg State, Coyne and Elaine Hehir managed to get a Hollywood internship from the school. Beginning as an assistant editor, then moving on to editor, he remained with Elaine as she did work as a motion picture camera technician.

One of the film's Coyne edited, "Dolphins: Minds In the Water," received an Academy Award under the student category. After that, Coyne received his first feature film offer for the low budget film, "Misfit Patrol."
