Sumomo (酸桃 or 李, Prunus salicina) is a tree native to China, but now also grown in Japan. It is not to be confused with ume, another type of plum often grown in Japan. Its Japanese name means 'vinegar peach' as it is considerably more sour than the peach. Sumomo have been the subject of a number of Japanese poems.

The tree blossoms in the spring and the fruit can be harvested in the summer. The flesh is yellow-pink. When fully ripe it can be eaten raw. It is also used half ripe as a flavouring in liqueur.
