I have also looked into this and endorse Sandstein's refusal to unblock. The extensive list of sockpuppets connected to this account alone would make me very wary of unblocking. The fact that the sockpuppets have all been editing the same articles as you makes the chances of your explanation of innocence being true so small as to be negligible.
