From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Anglican Jedi (talk | contribs) at 23:32, 8 December 2007 (moved Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin to Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin: The Diocese has voted to leave the Episcopal Church, therefore, it is no longer episcopal. I am creating a new page, however, for the new diocese that will be formed there). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Location of the Diocese of San Joaquin

The Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin, headquartered in in Fresno, California.

The diocese is one of the most conservative in the US. It is one of only three in ECUSA that does not ordain women (the others are the Diocese of Quincy and the Diocese of Fort Worth).

The diocesan bishop, John David Schofield, was consecrated October 9, 1988 and became diocesan December 15,1988.

The cathedral of the diocese is St. James' Cathedral Church.

On December 8, 2007 the diocese voted to secede from the ECUSA.[1] This is the first entire diocese to secede from the ECUSA since the American Civil War.
