Toliara (also known as Toliary and formerly Tuléar) is a town in Madagascar. It is the capital of the Toliary Province. The current spelling of the name was adopted in the 1970s and it is currently home to an estimated 62,000 residents. As a port town it acts as a major import/export hub for commodities such as sisan, soap, hemp, cotton, rice and peanuts.
