CNN HD is a high-definition (HD) version of the 24-hour news channel CNN. The channel was launched on September 1, 2007.
CNN HD's programme line-up is exactly the same as CNN's main channel. It is a mix of high-definition and standard-definition content since not all CNN studios and news gathering cameras are HD-capable. Currently, American Morning, Lou Dobbs Tonight, Anderson Cooper 360 and In The Money (all shows based out of New York) air an HD version. Planet in Peril, one of CNN's documentaries also aired an HD version.
Initial carriage of CNN HD on cable and satellite systems was limited. DirecTV launched carriage of CNN HD on September 26, 2007. Comcast launched CNN HD in conjunction with TBS HD on October 2, 2007 in Massachusetts and parts of New Hampshire. Time Warner Cable also launched the channel in select markets in October 2007. Cox Communications recently launched the service in some Florida and Oklahoma markets as of November 2007.
