James Russell Patton(born September 29, 1933 in Greenville, Mississippi) was an American football defensive back in the NFL for the New York Giants. He was a 5 time Pro Bowler. Patton attended the University of Mississippi.


Jimmy Patton was killed in an automobile accident several years ago. He was the only passenger in the car, and no other vehicles were involved. The accident happened near Villa Rica, GA on December 22, 1973. He was driving to Virginia to see his sister that was dying of cancer.
