Interstate 587
Interstate 587 is a short Interstate Highway spur route servicing the small city of Kingston, New York, connecting I-87 (and nearby US 209) west of the city with the downtown area.
At 1.2 miles, I-587 is one of the shortest Interstate highways, and it is also known as one of the most peculiar and obscure. Although the length of the highway is built to Interstate specifications, it has no intersections. It begins at a traffic circle (more properly, a roundabout, at the junction with I-87), and ends at a stop light near downtown Kingston. Also notably, there is no signage for I-587 at its exit from its parent I-87.
The entire length is cosigned with NY 28, and is commonly called the "Colonel Chandler Drive". Interestingly, just to the west of I-87 and the traffic circle at the end of I-587, NY 28 has a full cloverleaf interchange with US 209.
