Zick is a 12-year-old loner who is considered a bit "strange" because he has the ability to see invisible monsters that others cannot see. In addition, he suffers from rather particular allergies; he sneezes when he senses dangerous monsters nearby. Zick has a strong and determined character, and will discover he has enormous powers. He still doesn't realize he is a Tamer and is destined to be a hunter of evil monsters. Zick will be tested to see if he can save the world of monsters! In The Devourer, he lost his power in the machine called the Devourer which has the ability to absorb his Dom Energy and also loses his ability to see monsters. His powers returned in The Last Tamer when saw his father in danger, and gained it at the last minute. In the comic book series issue 29, Zick gave away all his powers as a tamer to save Elena using the Eye of Maggoth.

Elena is Zick's 12-year-old best friend. She helps him in their adventures, adores cats and the world of monsters. She gains the gift of 'Sight' (ability to see and keep monsters in their houses) by Greta Barrymore - Zick's mother in the episode The Devourer. Elena is a tomboy and she gets really mad when Zick takes her for granted. Timothy and Jeremy think of her as a busybody, but she helps Zick with his monster taming. She has been promised a baseball cap with her name on it by Timothy but it has not been seen yet in the show, and when she is shocked she say "Holy Spit".
Elena is voiced by Annie Bovaird in the Italian version and Kaley Cuoco in the English version.
The two might also have feelings for one another. In the comic book series issue 21, Zick was forced to kiss Elena in the cheek after losing in a game.

Magnacat is president of Pyramid Inc. when in human form, but really he is one of the most evil monsters, a shape shifting Gorka. He is the main antagonist of the series. Magnacat's powers includes shape shifting, hypnosis, and mind-control. He is plotting revenge on Bibbur-Si for exiling his kind long ago, as well as the Tamers for interfering in his plans. He was defeated and captured by Zick is the episode The Horn of Kong. When in human form, Magnacat has blonde hair and wears a green business suit.
Magnacat is voiced by Al Goulem in the Italian version and Kevin Michael Richardson in the English version.
- Omnised and Omniquad

Omnised and Omniquad are brothers, and Magnacat's minions. They carry out his orders after he was eaten by Bristlebeard in the episode Magnacat. Ominsid first appears and captured by Zick in Cat in the Pot, while Omniquad first appears in The Monster Next Door, and then captured by Zick in The Pyramid of Invunrable. In Zick vs. Zick Omnised hypnotized Elena to free him from the DomBox, and took Omniquad with him. Later in the series, Omniquad was captured by Teddy Thaur in The Last Tamer, while Omnised was captured by Zick again in The Great Escape. Ominsed appeared in the comic book series, whlie Ominquad was not included. When in human forms, they have little hair behind their ears, wear sunglasses and in a black bodyguard business suits.

Dark Phantoms are ghosts that are willing to gain life by eating monsters and Tamers. As they consume more they became very destructive, and turn into living ghosts (Half Monster, Half Ghost). Only three Dark phantoms are known in the series: Bristlebeard the pirate in episode Magnacat and the Pirates Hideout, Lester the night watchman with his dog Breda in Canned Monsters, and the Blacksmith brothers in Shoes for Bombo.

Anguanes are mechant witches, and live underground in the Forest of Cham. They capture monsters to make potions and spells. Their leader is Zick's Aunt, Emily Vermeer the Anguana of Er.

Emily is the leader of the Anguanes, and the Anguana of Er. She is married to Olsen Barrymore (Theo Barrymore's brother in the comic book series), making her related to Greta, and Zick.

Lardine is a female cat seen in the show. Like Timothy, she is a tutor. She seems to be the only female tutor in the show. She is in charge of the Detention Oasis at Port Reef. She is seen in episodes Cat In The Pot, The Pyramid of the Invulnerable, Magnacat, Terror in the Deep and Family Reunion. In the comic book series, she might have some feelings for Timothy, and her real name is Larraby Tuth, but she preferred to be called by her nickname.

Timothy is Zick's cat and Tutor. He is very mysterious and sarcastic but a great help to Zick. He is in charge of the Detention Oasis of the Barrymore's House, and later was replaced by Jeremy-Joth for violating too many rules of Bibbur-Si. Since then, he currently resides in Bibbur-Si, but appears later in The General Inspector, The Secret Door, The Devourer, The Great Escape, and The Horn of Kong. In the comic book series, Timothy returns to his position as guardian of the Barrymore House when the exile was ended, and the monsters didn't want to go back to Bibbur-Si

Bombo is one of the monsters in Zick's house that are under the supervision of Timothy, and later by Jeremy, who has a strict behavior. His crime is ignoring his diet, and eating Zick's shoes.

Chumba Bagingi is one the monster under the supervision in Lardine's Detension Oasis. He is an Exhibitionist (Monster's making themselves visible to humans). In Terror of the Deep, he escape when Lardine was resting in Elena's House. He was saved by Zick, and Elena from two Dark Phamtom, and later was captured by Zick. In Witch Village he was used a as trade for information for Zick to Emily Vermeer, and was release in his Dom Box and destroying half of the Anguanes Fair, and was captured again by Zick being beg by Emily Vermeer to stop him. In Family Reunion, he was release by Zick to escape Onised, and Omniquad, and now returns in Lardine's Detention Oasis in Port Reef. In the comic book series issue 19, he escaped again and when to Froggy Island. Later was track down and captured by Zick, Elena, and Timothy to return him to Lardine's Detension Oasis.

Greta is Zick's Mother and lives with him in an old house called Villa Barrymore. She owns a flower shop, and her husband is Zobedja Zick - Zick's Father. She tries to protect Zick from the world of monsters by pretending not to see them, but later told him when he found out on his own, and being sure that her son can handle the truth. In The Ancient Armory, it was revealed that she is responsible for Zob's disappearance when she hid him throughout the entire time. Greta gets Zob and Zick reunited when they meet at the entrance of the ancient armory, and after deactivating the traps. Like Julie, Elena's mother, she gets mad at Zick sometimes when she finds out that he has done something wrong. However, she still loves Zick. Her characteristics of having blonde hair and glasses resembles to Julie, but Greta's hair is longer and her glasses is square and the frames are invisible.
She wears her adventure attire in the episodes The Ancient Armory and Family Reunion.

Zob (as Greta calls him) is Zick's father and the husband of Greta Barrymore. Prior to the series, he was shrunk when he used all of his energy on Magnacat. In the flashback from the episode Mugalak!, Zob was shrunk when Magnacat zaps him after being weaken. Greta was forced to hide him from Zick throughout the entire time, which it became an explanation for his disappearance in the series. He returned in The Ancient Armory where he gets reunited with his son after being apart with him for so long, and time for his son to know the truth. Since then, he currently resides in ___________. In Witches Village, Zick, Elena, and Teddy found out from Emily Vermeer that the way to restore Zob to his original size is with the Breath of Mugalak. He later returns to his original size in the episode Mugalak! using the Breath of Mugalak.

Jeremy is a cat and the strictest of the 4 Maximum tutors. He became Timothy's replacement when he violated too many rules of Bibbur-Si. He controls the Barrymore's house with his strict behavior since then, being mean to both Zick and the monsters. He was mind controlled by Magnacat to capture Zick in episode The Devourer by sabotaging his Teleskates that ended him teleporting to Magnacat's secret lair. The devourer absorb all of Zick's Dom energy causing him to lose his ability to see and fight monsters. Jeremy then attacks Elena in the sewers while trying to find out what he is doing until the digesting plant stops him. He was freed from the mind control effect after the digesting plant knocked him out. Even though Jeremy is harsh and strict, he has a softer side and cares for Zick and Elena as evidenced in The Devourer when he is glad that he didn't hurt Elena while under Magnacat's control and when he gets worried of Zick getting captured by Magnacat.

Teddy is a Tamer, and one of Zick's friends. He is a showoff, arrogant and boastful to anyone. He sometimes respects Zick, but not Elena. He first appeared in the episode Canned Monsters, and then later on in the series. He became an antagonist in a short while in Mugalak. In the episode, he betrayed Zick and Elena when the Breath of Mugalak was taken, and suddenly steals it. While fighting, Teddy accidently cause the cave to fall thanks to his Dom Energy of using Zick's sunglasses. His foot got stuck by this. Zick and Elena first thought of leaving him behind for betraying but Zick feels sorry for him, and can still be a friend someday, and help him along with Elena. The reason for this is because he want to bring his own father back to normal for turning him into stone told by Zick's Father. After his father is restored, he and his mother was happy to see him. He has two parents, Terrence Thaur, his father and Johanna Tulasech, his mother. He like a girl tamer name Lay Mamery.

Julie is Elena's pregnant mother who moved to Oldmill Village. She gets mad at Elena sometimes when she finds out that she has done something wrong. Despite this, she still loves Elena. She appears in House of Monsters, Monster Pod Under Oldmill, Cat in the Pot, The Monster Next Door, Terror in the Deep, The Ancient Armory, Bewitched Party, The Secret Door, The Great Escape, and Horn of Kong. In the last episode The Horn of Kong, she gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl (In the comic book series, their names are Charlie and Violet). Her characteristics of having blonde hair and glasses resembles to Greta, but Julie's hair is short and her glasses is rounded and the frames are visible.

Lonzo is Elena's 8-year-old cousin who appeared in the episode Cat in the Pot, and The Ancient Armory. Elena has a strained relationship with him because he sometimes does weird things like acting like a cat to cheer up Elena when Purrcy was kidnapped in Cat in the Pot. However, she gets annoyed by this. Since then, Elena goes to Zick's house to avoid him when every time he comes for a visit, angering him. Despite this, she still cares for him as evidenced in the episode The Ancient Armory when Elena hears Lonzo's scream after he witnessed Bombo and Synakutz Bu taking picture of themselves, and making themselves visible for a moment, causing her to go help him with the situation only to find his face getting misplaced after being eaten by Bombo. Lonzo gets excited by the world of monsters when Elena tells him about it.

- Purrcy
Purrcy is Elena's pet cat who always tries to make friends with Timothy and Jeremy but ends up getting burned or scratched in the face.
- Puffy
Puffy is Elena's pet rabbit. Puffy has a prominent role in Claws. In the episode Claws, he was transformed into a were-rabbit by Omnised and Omniquad with a use of a carrot of invulnerability, orders by Magnacat to attack Zick and Elena in the Oldmill's Old Shipyard. When Zick tried to suck Puffy in the Universal DomBox, it didn't work since Puffy is not a monster. When Elena recognized that the were-rabbit is Puffy, she called him by his name, causing Puffy to regain control of himself while in were-rabbit form. He approaches Elena, who touches him, causing Puffy to transform back to normal.

Pattie and Mattie are the schools 'gossip spreaders'. In comic book series, they were said to be editors of the school paper and if they find any gossip, they print it in the school newspaper. They were invited to a slumber party in 'Bewitched Party' by Julie Potato without telling Elena about it.
They always get on Elena's nerves and she hopes that they will be moving to another section soon. (as said in the comic book series.)
- Soup and Ford
They are the class bullies. They aren't very smart and they follow the orders of their 'leader' David. In the comic book and animated series, they don't go with David anymore since he was going with Annie instead of them.
- David McMackamack

David is a bully like Soup and Ford and likes to pick on Zick. The truth is that he really is a sensitive guy. In the comics book series, David would stutter while talking (earning him the nickname 'DeDavid'.) but this had been edited out of the cartoon. Later on in the series, he found a new friend Annie and stopped bullying others, and starts hanging out with her. He and Annie have feelings for one another.

She appeared in episodes Claws, Bewitched Party, The Haunted Skyscraper, and Shoes for Bombo. In the comic book series, she is a shy person, and afraid of ghost stories, while in the animated series it was the opposite. She became friends with Zick and Elena in Bewitched Party. She and David have feelings for one anther.
