Talk:Castle Bromwich

Is there a good reason why the reference to Castle Bromwich being a suburb of Birmingham is repeatedly being removed? I realise some residents might like to play up the village thing, but removing this and also editing it to obscure the fact that it is surrounded by Birmingham proper in 3 sides is a bit odd. Anyone in doubt whether Castle Bromwich is a suburb of Birmingham need only look at a map - it is directly between two other suburbs within the city limits - Castle Vale and Shard End, and its within the M6. The fact that it is outside the formal city limits is irrelevant: suburb doesn't imply being within the city limits.
Fourth side is Smiths Wood which is classed as North Solihull, dont know why but it is. Castle Bromwich was a village until Smiths wood was built along side it and latter the Parkfields Estate
Also, why is the link to West Midlands (county) repeatedly being removed?
Finally, saying "it was a small village until 1974" is nonsense. Lots of houses didn't suddenly pop into existence in 1974. It ceased being a small village (if it has ever been one, which I doubt, seeing as the census population for 1871 was 687 which is actually quite a decent sized village, not at all small, which would be certainly <200) sometime after the Second World War, not on April Fool's Day thirty-two years ago.
In 1974 perhaps the largest council estate in europe, at the time, was developed. It has since been divided into samller estates like smiths wood but was originally called chelsmley wood.
Why do we only ever get people saying "it is a small village" on articles about suburbs or large commuter villages? Hmm. Morwen - Talk 16:38, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Why do people moan about stuff on articles? ...I'd like to join in too ;) I would like to see some pictures of this place. Is it anything like castle vale? 86.140.139.252 14:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
