Kari Taalasmaa (born. 1971) is a fictional character in the popular Finnish soap-opera Salatut elämät. Appearing in the series from 1999–2004 and 2007 - present. He is played by Tommi Taurula.
Kari Taalasmaa is Ulla Taalasmaa's and Seppo Taalasmaa's eldest son and Elina Taalasmaa's half brother via his mother. He was in prison when the series began, for assault on the man who had raped Elina Taalasmaa. He later went steady with Laura Kiviranta, with whom he had a daughter, Oona. Kari Taalasmaa left series in 2004, when he moved to Tampere with Jenni Vainio's sister Katja Vainio. Kari is 32-years-old and working car thief.
In 2007 Kari had an impressive return to the Salatut elämät. When he knocked Tuomo out, because of Tuomo's poor treatment of Kari's sister Elina.
Kari did not have much education, and has felt so unsuccessful that he tried to commit suicide. He has worked in many trades and went to try job markets of other Nordic Countries.
