History
The New South Wales State Basketball League allows several domestic basketball associations to participate in representative competition on a home and away basis. The league has undergone several changes over its many years, with divisions being intoduced and removed. The most notable of these happened when Division 1 was changed to Premier Division in preperation for a New South Wales based Australian Basketball Association conference, to be named the Waratah Conference. Teams have previously been included from the Australian Capital Territory, in the for of A.C.T. Academy of Sport and the Canberra Nationals. Youth Leagues have tended to be centred around Sydney based clubs, and Division 2, now known as Division 1, has tended to be more country based.
The 2007 NSWSBL Finals were held at Sutherland on the weekend of 21st amd 22nd July, 2007. The event was shared with the Waratah ABA finals weekend, of which the NSWABL is a feeder league.
