Alexandre Coste on the cover of Paris Match

Éric Alexandre Stéphane Coste (born August 24, 2003 in Paris), known as Alexandre Coste, is the son of Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and his former lover, Nicole Coste, a former flight attendant from Togo in west Africa.

Alexandre will not be in line for the Monegasque throne nor will he bear the Grimaldi name. He will, however, have inheritance rights to the Grimaldi family fortune.

Should Albert II marry his mother, or legitimate him through adoption or another legal action, it is possible Alexandre could become heir apparent to the throne of Monaco. Both of these options seem unlikely. However, Alexandre Coste offers an option to Albert II, should he not father another child and want to preclude the expected accession to the throne of his eldest nephew, Andrea Casiraghi.

On July 6, 2005, a few days before he was enthroned on July 12, Albert II officially confirmed via his lawyer Thierry Lacoste that Alexandre Coste is his son. At the time Alexandre was 22 months old.
