Mic
can some one put up a picture of the mic that will be used in the game? that would be really usefull, thanx.Krazy lover boy09 13:37, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Star Girl
Please stop adding Star Girl by McFly to the article. It's not on the game, and never will be. Probably. Dragonscales 17:24, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Sgt. Peppers?
I see that Sgt. Peppers by The Beatles is under Downloadable content, but the reference doesn't say anything about The Beatles. Is this false info or what? If The Beatles were in the game, I would have to buy it... —Preceding unsigned comment added by -000 (talk • contribs) 02:53, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Bonus Songs
I don't think some of those Bonus songs belong there. No sources, do you think they should be removed? -Koryr 19:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, done so. No source = not official. Dragonscales 19:26, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Bang Camaro was confirmed (i.e. look at the official website for a change), so stop removing it! Y2kcrazyjoker4 02:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- A moot point now, considering the setlist has been shown, but rockband.com did not (and at the time of writing, still does not) show Pleasure Pleasure as a track, from what I can see. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Dragonscales 20:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Not Compatable with Guitar Hero 3
--Twistboy 06:50, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
The Stratocaster controller for Rock Band is not compatible with Guitar Hero 3. Source: Story from 1up.com [1]
ps2 WILL HAVE A USB hub
This confirms the ps2 USB hub,And that the ps2 instruments will work for the ps3.

Compatibility Chart
I added a compatibility chart to make it easier to understand. Will the Rock Band guitar be compatible with Guitar Hero II? I haven't seen anything either way, so maybe we should put "Unknown". Kcurley 01:29, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Nevermind Confirmed.
Dan Teasdale confirms it in a new interview.
- We were able to get The Who, which we never were able to get before, we were able to get the whole of “Nevermind” from Nirvana, which was way beyond our expectations and is incredibly awesome.[3]

Soundtrack article?
Since the soundtrack has been getting kind of big, and it will only get bigger, a separate article just for the soundtrack might be a good idea.

- I agree, kind of like the way the Guitar Hero soundtrack pages are set up would be nice. Tabor 03:03, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

""Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity" – Type O Negative" is added to the main set list, but I don't see it in a source anywhere. Could someone provide one or remove it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.176.158.255 (talk) 17:15, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- "Someone who just likes to make stupid edits" by The Vandalisms more than likely added it. It's a joke. Get it? But seriously, I think he/she just wanted to add stupid stuff to article. lightsup55 20:44, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Cities
I'm not a regular Wikipedian, so I don't have access to change the article. However, I have compiled a list of the 17 in-game cities (proved true in a couple videos), and I was wondering if there was enough merit to this list to be added into the article.
- Boston
- New York
- Chicago
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
- Seattle
- Sydney
- Tokyo
- Moscow

Split soundtrack into its own article?
As the soundtrack continues to grow with DLC, and as the release date approaches, it seems that we should follow the lead of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and split the soundtrack into its own article for the sake of brevity. I've added the appropriate template to the article, but I'd like to build consensus before making the move. Thoughts? Oren0 22:21, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- That was done AFTER the release of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock to help ease the need to check 2 different articles for vandalism and non-verifiable information being added. Sure the list will grow (especially with downloadable content), but until the game is released, it is alot easier to kept the main article and soundtrack together. lightsup55 22:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm gonna have to agree with lightsup, I didn't like this move with either of the previous guitar hero games and having the chance to fight it now, I will. I think this might be okay after the game is released, but until then (even though all songs have been announced) it is a convienience for people looking for game info to not have to redirect to another article for pertinent information. Wikidaily2 23:39, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- After the game is out, the split can be considered. (If someone wants to sandbox the list and have it ready to put into place, that's fine). --MASEM 01:52, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand why the game's release is relevant given that all the songs have been announced already. Oren0 03:10, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- It's not uncommon for people interested in music games to check out the set list prior to release. It is easier to get a sense of the game as a whole with everything kept in one article. After the game is released, then it will be more appropriate to move the set list to another page where it will not be seen as easily. The release date is less than a week away so it shouldn't be too big of a deal to wait. Doctor Septopia 07:23, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Also, there may be a tier listing or the like that, unlike GH3, there's been no word how it splits out. It only makes sense to break out to a list of songs when we know how those songs are presented to the user to make the article as useful as possible. --MASEM 14:08, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- The tiering system has been released (see IGN's video preview) and it's complicated enough that I anticipate we won't delve into it at all for fear of WP:GAMEGUIDE. In a nutshell, there are cities with set lists, some of which are just lists of songs, some are local bands, some are secret, and some are single songs. Set lists/cities don't necessarily have to be done in a specific order, and they're a problem for us because songs are repeated in several set lists. I think it would be overkill to list every song that's in every set list in every city. The only real distinction I anticipate we'll make is between regular and bonus songs, but we do that already. I still don't get the argument about people visiting the article to see the list of songs, because they'll do that after the game is released as well. But since there's consensus against splitting for now I'll remove the split tag from the article. Oren0 18:00, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
As I posted in a recent discussion section, I think the information in this news release warrants a split. There's more information about the downloadable content now than needs to be in the main article, and it'd be nice if it was in its own article rather than not on Wikipedia at all. I don't understand why you would need to wait until the game is released to split the information... if the information is bulky enough that it deserves to stand on its own in an article, then that should be that. Pele Merengue 09:52, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Is it possible/permissible to split the main article into smaller pieces. All of the paragraphs in this article are a little lengthy. I am suggesting an article for the playlist, a seperate article for the DLC, and an article for each of the different peripherials. As the article reads now it is just too thorough. I like to feel like I'm seeing a lot of real estate when browsing.
Remember the starving kid in Africa needs our links to eat, let us start by making this article fully compliant with WIKI:LINKBOMBINGSOBS —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.251.210.161 (talk) 05:09, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, this is not a good idea. While we do use Summary style to break larger articles into smaller ones, the breaks have to leave articles that should stand on their own. The soundtrack itself qualifies, but the other parts you suggest really don't work out well: an article for each instrument is way overkill, and even a separate article for the instruments would make them lose their context from the main article as well as having the main article lose something. DLC and other soundtrack aspects are explained in more detail on the songlist page, but these are just summary points. The development seciton, now that the game is out, is where some trimming can be done, as we don't have to talk about such-and-such news prior to release, and now can focus that on what was known as the game got closer to release. --MASEM 06:34, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

NEW DLC INFO AND ITS GOOD!
At gamespot.com they released info on the pricing, metallica songs, and the weeks they will come out. So go look at it and put it in the rock band wikipedia site. It has alot of info on dlc —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peachpunker63 (talk • contribs) 03:00, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm considering editing the list article from a redirect to include the tracklisting. Now that GameSpot has revealed the pricing structure and release dates of the downloadable content tracks, there's a lot of relevant information that would just look like overkill in the main article. If anyone objects, please discuss it here. Pele Merengue 09:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Drums and Mic
no one has said anything about the mic and drums being compatable with PS3, Xbox, PS2, and the computer verion. will you have to buy one for all the versions or will one work for all?Krazy lover boy09 14:29, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- The microphones are just standard USB mics that should work on any platform. The drums probably will not be compatible across multiple platforms, since each has a custom joypad in the middle and each is mapped to different buttons for gameplay purposes (it's the same way the guitar works). BTW, there is no PC version of Rock Band. Y2kcrazyjoker4 14:58, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I can verify that the microphone is a generic Logitech USB mike that should work across platforms and on PC. KyuzoGator (talk) 19:02, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

- I don't have a source, but I did play the demo at my local Best Buy. Just like Guitar Hero, there is a Quick Play option so that you can play by yourself. However, the Quick Play option in Rock Band allows you play a song by yourself using any instrument (guitar, drums, or microphone). Possible Shortages
Saw an article this morning from home about Best Buy shortages - some people showed up at midnight to get nothing. It was on "Addict3d" I believe. I can't access the site from here at work though to send the link. I also don't know if that type of thing is Encyclopeidic or not. A note though: I tried to find more and this and noticed GameStop said pre-orders will be filled, but no other sales until 2008. Also, there seems to be some sort of alliance that has formed with EA and GameStop...maybe leaving Best Buy in the dust with very few copies of this game...and maybe future games? Just a geeky conspiracy theory, wanted to get this info out in case it's relevant. If not, please disregard, thanks all! --Scottymoze (talk) 14:03, 20 November 2007 (UTC) P.S. - and again, my apologies for lack of sources...can't really access anything from here at work.
- Bundles are going for about $300 on eBay, which is the usual sign that we're looking at shortages for the Christmas season. KyuzoGator (talk) 15:52, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
The reason for the so-called "shortages" are as thus: Harmonix was playing the market. By which I mean, they released few units of Rock Band. By releasing few units, they could drive up demand, and at the same time, see how well their units sell and see how much they can('t) cash in. If the release is a success then they will have regretted not releasing more units, but if few of the special editions are sold, then they would not have lost quite as much money upon release. After all, you're selling this 30-pound box for $170... if it doesn't sell well and you sent out a lot of units, there'd be no chance at a Rock Band 2... or any future endeavors by Harmonix for that matter. - didn't the game come out today? why hasn't anyone changed the release date to RELEASED DATE? and why hasn't anyone started talking about the game yet? feel free to delete this section, because it's not contributing to rock band. thanks for reading.Krazy lover boy09 (talk) 14:11, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- It is only 10:00 AM (at least in the East Coast of the U.S. that is). Besides, Wikipedia is NOT a forum or message board. If you are looking for a forum or message board, go to RockBand.com and click "Community" OR the Rock Band forums on ScoreHero.com.
- Oh and "released date" just doesn't sound right to me for some reason. Just worry about whether or not the article say something like "Rock Band is a future game to be released..." or anything else that is future tense, which I believe has already been done by someone else.
- I also fixed your post. For the future, type 1 colon before your text instead of a space. For example:
- :And this is my reply... ~~~~
- If you were to reply to my reply, you'd type 2 colons:
- ::And this is my reply to your reply... ~~~~
Someone should recheck spelling
The most glaring one I found was

I thought I'd post notice here since that article was spun out of this one and some of the regular editors of this page might not be watching it. Feel free to participate in the discussion if you're so inclined. Additionally, if that page is deleted, we need to reconsider how, if at all, controller compatibility info will be discussed on this page. Oren0 (talk) 04:59, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- The article was deleted yesterday. I voted to delete, but the overwhelming majority wanted to keep it. I know Wikipedia isn't a democracy, but on the other hand I don't really like the unilateral way this seems to have been done. KyuzoGator (talk) 20:54, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Are we ready for a criticisms/issues section yet?
The loud, hollow thumping of the drum heads and the incompatibilty of the GH3 Les Paul on the PS3 come to mind. KyuzoGator (talk) 15:54, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, it's already been deleted for being "original research." So I guess I'll play the Wiki Game and ignore the hundreds of complaints on the rockband.com message boards and wait for the eventual citable article to come out in a few days. KyuzoGator (talk) 19:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Is Rock Band keysounded?
It's clear that the game features the master tracks. However, what is the format of the instrumentation? How are the songs tracked per instrument? Are the songs keysounded? Did the game move away from the Stepmania-like format, and fall more into the Beatmania style?
I know that way back when, it was one of those things on Red Octane/Harmonix's to-do list to implement keysounding. And since Harmonix finally picked up master recordings, did they go ahead and keysound the songs? I can't seem to find any information on this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.48.40.133 (talk) 10:03, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Broken Accessories
I think there needs to be a paragraph in the criticisms section about cheaply made/easily breakable the peripherals are. There are tons of complaints about the guitars having broken strum bars and clunky buttons, while many people are having clunky/broken drum pads and their kick pedals are breaking in half. There are tons of people who are reporting demo guitars (you know, like the ones the put out for people to try the games at Wal-Mart and similar stores) that are broken and Best Buy has had to send many of them back.
There are also complaints about the fact that the Guitar Hero III controllers don't work for the PS3 version of the game, even though many reviewers said that they would be (although this might be a result of the fact that the XBox 360 versions do). Harmonix released a statement about this being Activision's fault because Guitar Hero III controllers don't comply with open standards like the Rock Band controllers do, and the fact that Rock Band controllers don't work on Guitar Hero III is because Activision specifically designed the game to only detect Guitar Hero III controllers. While this is certainly Activision's right to do so, it should be noted that this is a PS3 only problem as Microsoft requires all companies to use open standards and so these issues are nonexistent for XBox 360 users.
The article about the Statement is here http://ps3.ign.com/articles/836/836950p1.html
This is really important because there will not be individually sold guitars (or any other peripheral) until February, which means PS3 users will not be able to play with a full four players unless they buy two bundle packs.
There have also been complaints relating to the fact that Bands must chose a Leader that must play in every performance, causing problems with users wanting to continue progress after their bandmate has become otherwise occupied.
And finally, there have also been complaints about the fact that while playing in the Solo Tour mode or while playing Band World Tour without a full line up, the computer creates a random character to fill the role, rather than selecting (or allowing users to select) from the list of already created player characters. This has been criticized because often the computer makes a player that "just doesn't fit in" with the rest of the band, i.e. the players have created classic rockers but the computer members are punks or glam rockers, etc. Grant.alpaugh (talk) 11:10, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Most of these are complaints I have seen (the issue of the PS3 GH3 Controller not working is already cited under the peripherals section) but likely because yesterday was a holiday, there haven't been any major news reports that confirm what is only seen in forums, so we can't add those other details yet. Maybe today there will be some. --MASEM 14:58, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't own the game myself (yet), but I do agree that this should be added to the article (especially since you have provided a reliable and verifiable source). And here is the reference code you need in the article: <ref name="ps3compatibility">{{cite web | url = http://ps3.ign.com/articles/836/836950p1.html | title = One Guitar for Rock Band | accessdate = 2007-11-23 | last = Goldstein | first = Hilary | work = IGN.com | date = [[2007-11-20]] }}</ref> lightsup55 ( T | C ) 15:07, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I say add a part about the strum bars losing their effect due to heavy playing (happened to mine just yesterday), but the rest of the stuff that Grant stated has not been addressed by the public yet (sounds OR/his own opinion to me). Blacklist (talk) 19:35, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Also note that a second recurring problem appears to be that the bass drum pedal has a habit of breaking. This seems confirmed in earnest by the countless threads about it in the official Rock Band forum. Kyouryuu (talk) 08:11, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- I personally have had issues with the drums - songs like "Run to the Hills" have fast 16th notes and although I play the parts perfectly, trying both rolls and single sticking, the pads will NOT register a lot of the notes. I tried messing with lag to no avail. I had this issue on two different sets of the game on two different home theaters. I don't have a source for this though, but I'll look around to see if it's a common thing. --Scottymoze (talk) 15:53, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- You're probably not rocking hard enough. Try rocking harder with your hands, but be careful not to rock too hard with your foot, or you will break the pedal. 134.29.6.7 (talk) 22:07, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply!! I don't want to make this a mini-forum thread...but basically I've tried playing ultra hard all the way down to ultra soft...like pianissimo and fortissimo and everywhere in between. Playing ultra soft actually registers more of the notes. The encyclopedic note here is that there is a lot of talk on the XBOX.com forums about this issue with the drums not registering all of the notes, as well as the strum bar issue and the foot pedal breaking. I think the peripherals are just not uber-durable and there's a ton of types of hardcore players in the real world that they didn't take into account when testing. It's kind of sad that my drumsticks get more bounce off of my kitchen table than the drum pads. If I find any news articles on the peripheral issues I'll post here. Thanks again, --Scottymoze (talk) 14:38, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

GA/FA time?
I think we've done good on keeping this article up to high quality throughout the pre-release stages and followups - refs are formatted and look appropriate. Any reason we shouldn't try to bring this guy up to FA status with a stopover at GA to catch anything major? --MASEM 17:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
"Music controller standard"
There is a lot of talk about the "Music controller standard" Harmonix utilizes in their hardware and software to make all Guitar Hero guitars compatible with RockBand, but not vice versa. What is this standard? Where can I find info about that standard?
Also, if that standard exists: Can 360 Rockband-Controllers be used on PS3, PS2 and vice versa? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.245.180.131 (talk) 17:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- An "open controller standard" refers to controllers mapping buttons in the same exact way (every controller uses ABXY the same way, etc). I don't know where you are getting the idea of cross-console compatibility, but controllers are pretty much specific to the console they were made for (and this is the way it has always been). The only exception you're gonna find is some overlap between PlayStation peripherals. Y2kcrazyjoker4 22:42, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
European Release Date
The European release date was confirmed today for March 8, 2008. I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to editing articles, so if someone could change the date, and put the reference from the site below in, I'd really appreciate it.

Ignoring that it says March 6th, not March 8th, the site lists "An EA insider has confirmed to RewiredMind.com" as the source. That's a rumor at best.
No press release from Harmonix, EA or MTV Games yet, I'm reversing it to Q1 2008.

This is starting to get ridiculous. Anyway... I have made a request for page protection at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection (or simply: "WP:RFPP") due to high level of IP vandalism. Should be fulfilled shortly. lightsup55 ( T | C ) 00:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
GA thoughts
- I think the stolen Rock Band copies should be included somewhere in the article, as it isn't every day that some thieves ambush a truck and steal all of the copies of the game.
- Second, the reception section is very vague, phrases like "critics say"; that whole paragraph doesn't specifically cite any reviews on who exactly said what. hbdragon88 (talk) 08:26, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
PS2?
I've looked all over for the PS2 bundle, but I was told by many store officials that the release date was postponed into early '08. I don't think this article is current. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.185.240.34 (talk) 20:59, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

The situation in Canada
As of today, December 27, 2007, stores have the XBox and PS3 versions of the game, but not the PS2 version. Can't seem to find any word about when that will be available in Canada. Frasor (talk) 22:49, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
The ps2 release date for Canada is contradicted on the right side section by the main article itself. Has it been released as of the 27th or is the release date the 9th of January? And is there a source I'm missing for the 9th as a release date? I looked all over the net and couldn't dig anything up on it. Lokithx (talk) 19:10, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
bestbuy.ca says "releases Jan. 9." That's where I got the date. However, Toys R Us has it stocked as of today and if it was available at Best Buy stores on December 30th, that contradicts even Best Buy's own information, so who knows? Frasor (talk) 20:02, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I myself have not got my preordered copy at EB games in Moncton, New Brunswick (still first on the list). And at this time my friends who work there say there's no confirmed arrival date. Seems like its really mixed up right now. Lokithx (talk) 21:11, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I worked at best buy in the media division during the holiday season and we had conflicting dates, so as employees we had no idea at first. But one day in late December (i cant remember now, but its in the Wiki history) we were allowed to put three ps2 bundles out on the floor. And it was completely legit. I picked one of them up and set it up that very day.74.12.180.57 (talk) 03:48, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Wii Game?
It says that the game is coming out for the wii (at Wikipedia). Is this true? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.238.88.55 (talk) 00:36, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- The only thing mentioned in this article is that there is "no official announcement regarding a Wii version".

- Actually, there was an article at Rock band until somebody decided to merge it a couple of weeks ago (and that wasn't even a clear consensus). - You beat me to the punch. Clearly the term rock band is well used in the wiki and this needs to be discussed. I think moving as proposed would be too confusing since the distinction is Rock Band v rock band. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Dab That's what {{for}} is for. Simply put {{for|the genre of music|Rock music}} or somesuch. Either way, Rock Band should not redirect to Rock Band (video game). -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 13:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Noting that a couple of thousand pages link to Rock band, and most of them refer to a group of people playing rock music, and not to a video game, I think we can't have Rock band redirecting to Rock Band (video game), as it now does. On the other hand, Far fewer pages link to Rock Band, and a higher proportion of them refer to the video game. Thus, as far as internal linking is concerned, it makes sense to have Rock band as a redirect to Rock music, and to move Rock Band (video game) to Rock Band, placing hatnotes on both articles. The alternative would be to have Rock band and Rock Band redirect to Rock music, and leave Rock Band (video game) where it is, with a hatnote at Rock music. The only reason to go with the second option would be if we think people are likely to type "Rock Band" into the search box when they're thinking of bands playing rock music.
One other thing - why are we discussing this here, instead of at the article talk page? -GTBacchus(talk) 00:36, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

I've just copied the above from WP:RM, where it was listed in the "incomplete proposals" section. Consulting this talk page, a few sections up, it's clear that this page was just moved from Rock Band a little while ago, so before anybody decides to move it back, I thought I'd try to bring all the discussion to the same page. I would also direct the attention of anyone interested to Talk:Rock band, where I've left a comment about why that page really needs to say redirected to Rock music, unless someone does something about the 2300 broken links first. -GTBacchus(talk) 00:51, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
GA Review: On Hold
I have reviewed this article according to the requirements of the GA criteria and have placed the article on hold until the following issues are addressed. As you address each issue, either strike through the statement/place a check mark next to the issue and state how you addressed it. If you disagree with any of the issues I raised, state your rationale for disagreeing after the issue.
Image:Rock band cover.jpg This image should be reuploaded at a smaller size (around 400px for one of the dimensions) according to 3b of the Non-free content criteria. Once it is uploaded to a smaller size, add {{non-free reduced}} to the image page. The same goes for Image:Rock-band-screen.jpg and Image:Rockband-band-world-tour.jpg."Pressed for office space, Harmonix was forced to move its offices in the middle of Rock Band's beta period in order to support the company's 130-person staff.[14]" Single and brief two-sentence paragraphs shouldn't stand alone. Either expand on the information or incorporate it into another paragraph.Fix any other occurrences throughout the article."Solo Tour Mode" and "Band World Tour" don't need to be bolded."On January 4, 2008, video game peripherals..." Full dates should be wikilinked; fix any other occurrences throughout the article if applicable.- Go through the inline citations and ensure that all of the links are currently active and update the access dates (some haven't been reviewed since August). This will alert readers to which links are still currently active.
The article was interesting to read and only had a few minor problems. Good job on getting the free images of the instruments. I will leave the article on hold for seven days for the above issues to be addressed. If they are fixed then I will pass the article; if not, it may be failed. If you have any questions or when you are done, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 08:37, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
GA passed
Good job with addressing most of the above issues. I have passed this article according to the requirements of the GA criteria. There are still a few single sentences that should be expanded on, and when you have the time, the access dates should be updated. Continue to improve the article, making sure that all new information is properly sourced. Also, to anyone that is reading this review, please consider reviewing an article or two at WP:GAN to help with the very large backlog. Instructions can be found here. Each new reviewer that helps to review articles will help to reduce the time that articles wait to be reviewed. Keep up the good work, and I hope that you continue to bring articles up to Good Article status. If anyone disagrees with this review, an alternate opinion can be sought at Good article reassessment. If you have any further questions about this review, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 07:03, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Vic Firth
My addition that the drumsticks are manufactured by Vic Firth has been undone twice, once without comment and again with a note about Roland and non-branding.
Harmonix press release stated that Vic Firth manufactured the supplied drum sticks, and this is reinforced by in-game content and the printed literature. In-game mention especially points to reference as this is static content. I said nothing about branding, nor brand names on the drum sticks themselves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.81.30.21 (talk) 22:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- The drumsticks on my kit are branded "Ludwig." I don't know anything about drumsticks but I believe that to be a different brand. [6] Oren0 (talk) 04:02, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like Harmonix ran out of the Vic Firths too late to change the content. Out of curiosity, have you gotten one of the several Vic Firth advertisements in-game? Mine refer to the drum sticks "you're using." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.81.30.21 (talk) 04:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Additional Guitars
I have not yet got a chance to play the game yet, but as far as I know, the game only comes with 1 guitar. Any idea where a bass guitar might be purchased? It would be good for the 'Links' section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.164.220.247 (talk) 22:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- The one packaged in the bundle and the guitar controller that will be sold separately are the same. They can be used as bass or lead guitar. According to GameStop's website, the wireless guitar, drum set, and microphone (for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) will each be sold separately and will be available on March 04, 2008. This is already mentioned in the article, but without a release date. Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 00:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Image:Rock-band-screen.jpg - bass and lead guitar (left vs. right)
Image:Rock-band-screen.jpg is a screenshot of Rock Band, demonstrating the user interface for playing each instrument.
The problem is that there have been few edits (such as this edit) that have changed the bass and lead guitar from
bass (left), drums (middle), lead guitar (right), vocals (top)
bass (right), drums (middle), lead guitar (left), vocals (top)
I don't know if it is possible to change what area of the screen you play on when playing offline in Rock Band, however, I do know that it is possible to do that in the Guitar Hero games (such as Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Since I don't have the game, I don't know if this edit is correcting the article or if it is vandalism. What I do know (based on videos I've seen on YouTube) is that when you play online, icons display to show what each instrument/part each player is playing.
Is there a way to tell which side bass and lead guitar is on in Image:Rock-band-screen.jpg? If there is, someone should update the image with that note somewhere to prevent further confusion.

- The blue bg of the left track occurs when the bass player hits "Bass groove" (if it were overdrive, the edges would have yellow patterns as well). --MASEM 22:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Masem is correct. It's like Guitar Hero, in that either instrument can be on either side. In this case, bass is on the left. Oren0 (talk) 23:12, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thanks for pointing that out. Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 23:45, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, the left player has a 6x multiplier, which is only possible for bass. All other instruments only go up to 4x. --Maxamegalon2000 03:48, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- I could have sworn I've seen 8x on drums and others... 67.187.78.203 (talk) 18:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Only during the solo tour when activating Overdrive. In Band World Tour, Overdrive multiplies the entire band's score, and shows up on top instead of adding to each instrument's multiplier. --Maxamegalon2000 18:58, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
