Interstate 172 is a spur route off of Interstate 72 that runs from Hannibal, Missouri to Urbana, Illinois. The 22 mile highway extends from its start outside of Hannibal, Mo to just two miles west of Fowler, IL. After its interchange at US highway 24, Interstate 172 changes into IL 336, which heads for Carthage, IL.

Future

After Interstate 172 was completed, the Illinois Department of Transportation continued developtment of the 4-lane highway as IL highway 336. Construction continues even now, construction of 336 is now centered all around Carthage, IL. Construction will continue till Macomb, and maybe Peoria.
