Rock on the Range is an annual all-day festival of multiple rock band performances played at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH.

2007

The first annual Rock on the Range took place on May 19, 2007. The sold-out festival of over 40,000 fans started at noon, and ended around 11:00 PM. There were two stages: The Main Stage was inside the stadium at one end of the soccer field, and the "Mad Packers" Second Stage was in the parking lot just outside the stadium. The first 10,000 guests were given a wristband, which allowed them to access the field. Each band was given on average about 50-55 minutes to perform. When a band was finished, another band would start almost immediately on the other stage, making it near impossible to see every band.

Rock on the Range has confirmed that there will be a 2nd Annual Rock on the Range in May 2008 at Columbus Crew Stadium again.[1] Although no bands have been announced yet, the website states that "major news" will be available by the end of January. Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach has stated on Rock on the Range's MySpace that his band will be returning to perform in Rock on the Range 2008. There have also been rumors that Stone Temple Pilots will start their reunion tour at Rock on the Range, which would end a 5-year hiatus as a group. Neither band has been confirmed, though.

Rock on the Range has also mentioned a few additions for Rock on the Range 2008:

  • LED video screens will be added for the main stage.
  • Capacity at Columbus Crew Stadium will increase both on the field and overall.
  • Easier and quicker access to the festival grounds.
