KO One (Traditional Chinese: 終極一班, Simplified Chinese: 终极一班, zhōng jí yī bān) is a Taiwanese drama which aired in 2005. Before this drama was aired in the Taiwanese channel GTV, not many people were interested in it due to the storyline and the unfamiliar cast. Despite the new encounters, the ratings of KO One had exceeded expectations. Although the scorings for the drama were not very high, this hit drama still brought fame to the three leads (Jiro Wang, Calvin Chen, Aaron Yan), who are part of the then newly-formed Taiwanese boy band called Fahrenheit. This drama also brought fame to the new Taiwanese artist, Tank who wrote and sang the opening and ending theme songs. The original soundtrack was the best selling soundtrack of 2006, selling more than 60,000 copies in Taiwan within the first month, defeating the soundtrack sales of the more popular dramas It Started With a Kiss and The Prince Who Turns Into A Frog. The sequel, The X-Family, started airing in Taiwan on August 8, 2007.
Synopsis

KO One is a class designed especially for the delinquents and rejects that other high schools would not accept. Even so, everyone in the class is loyal to the leader, Wang Da Dong (Jiro Wang), who is KO.3, and would die for friends. Another KO. 3, Wang Ya Se, also called Ya Se Wang (Calvin Chen), and KO.4, Ding Xiao Yu (Aaron Yan) soon joins the class and out of some fortuitous events, their lives become tied together and they become best buddies. Another student, Lei Ke Se (Danson Tang), who had been gone for a whole semester, rejoins the class. Although Lei Ke Se seems like a weak kid with only good intentions, Ya Se suspects Lei Ke Se is KO.2 because legends say that KO.1 and KO.2 are capable of concealing their true identities.
At the same time, incidents start to occur and the culprit always leads to Ya Se. But Ya Se is being framed by Lei Ke Se, who is actually the real culprit. Lei Ke Si makes Ya Se looks bad so that Da Dong won't believe him when he says that Lei Ke Se is KO.2 . Soon, An Qi, who is Da Dong and Lei Ke Se's childhood crush, appears. This forces Lei Ke Se to reveal his true identity and fight with Da Dong (for An Qi). After Lei Ke Se leaves KO One, Xiao Yu starts to crush on An Qi. Both Da Dong and Xiao Yu fight over An Qi, but Da Dong doesn't realize his crush on the teacher of KO One, Tian Xin (Melody) until An Qi tells him. Soon, An Qi returns to America and strange things started to happen. Two more new girl-students join the class, and one of them has a crush on Ya Se. Although he is cold and refuses to accept her due to her behavior as a gorilla, he eventually changes and falls in love with her. At the end, Lei Ke Si returns to tell the gang how to defeat their enemy Hei Long. In the final battle, Da Dong, Ya Se, Xiao Yu and Lei Ke Si combine their powers and finally defeat the evil roaming around them, but everyone in the gang, except KO.7, lose their powers in a big explosion.

Students
- Wang Da Dong (汪大東) - played by Jiro Wang (汪東城)
The ring leader of the school gang Zhong Ji Yi Ban. Self-confident and stubborn. Acts as an obedient child in front of his parents, and has attempted to keep hi s parents in the dark about his school life. Everybody in Zhong Ji Yi Ban listens to what he says. He carries the Dragon Tattooed Pan (龍紋鏊) as his primary weapon and his fighting count is 9000. A unique aspect of his fighting count is that it can vary according to the opponent's fighting count; it becomes stronger when fighting strong opponents (遇強則強、遇弱則弱). Although Da Dong seems harsh and cold, he is actually a good person at heart and shows his caring side whenever his friends need help. Da Dong is number three on the KO Rank, and has earned the name "Egomaniac" (自大狂) from Ya Se.
Da Dong has been in love with a girl named An Qi since he was a kid, but was too shy and self-confident to reveal it. However, during her time in America, she's written over 500 letters to him, and although he didn't respond to any of the letters, he has been secretly collecting and memorizing them. The two of them were a couple at a point in the storyline, but eventually broke up due to Da Dong's crush on his teacher and his best friend Xiao Yu's crush on An Qi.
In the sequel, Da Dong finds out that he has an alternate counterpart in the Iron Dimension called Xia Tian and another named Zack from the Bronze Dimension.
- Wang Ya Se (王亞瑟) - played by Calvin Chen (辰亦儒)
The son of a gangster leader. Rich, powerful, self-centered, and his concerns are his looks. Like Da Dong, he has a third position on the KO Rank, his fighting count being 9000. He becomes the first to find out that Lei Ke Si is KO Two, although nobody seems to believe him. He has been framed by Lei Ke Si for an assortment of malicious attacks on fellow classmates, and has left the class at a point in the storyline to prove his innocence.
His primary weapon is the Sword in the Stone (石中劍). When the stone is removed from this sword, the sword demon will possess Ya Se, allowing Ya Se to instantly gain evil powers at the expense of losing control over his own actions. He became known as "Narcissist" (自戀狂) to Da Dong. Although he only loves himself, he eventually learns to love others when Cai Wu Xiong risks her own life to save him.
In the sequel, he finds out that he has an alternate counterpart in the Iron Dimension called Lan Ling Wang.
- Ding Xiao Yu (丁小雨) - played by Aaron Yan (炎亞綸)
Xiao Yu is ranked fourth on the KO Rank. He is prone to giving others cold looks if they are not willing to leave him alone. Unlike the other two, he uses his powerful fists as a weapon and has a fighting count of 8500. Xiao Yu's left fist is said to have the power of an atomic bomb, while his right fist has ten times the power of his left fist.
From the beginning, he appeared to be a very quiet and mysterious kid, but after befriending Ya Se and Da Dong, he slowly becomes more open and even starts to smile.
Xiao Yu is more likely to be found spending time in the music room. He doesn't like violence, but if anyone hits his head, he will definitely fight back. Xiao Yu carries a cellphone with him, but never gives his number to anyone - including Da Dong and Ya Se. But when he falls in love with Da Dong's lover, An Qi, he gives it to her and tells her to call him whenever she's in need of help.
In the sequel, Xiao Yu finds out that he has an alternate counterpart in the Iron Dimension called Jiu Wu.
- Lei Ke Si (雷克斯)/Wu Shi Duo (武屍奪) - Danson Tang (唐禹哲)
Da Dong's childhood friend whom Da Dong has absolute trust in. Lei Ke Si has liked An Qi since they were kids, but because she was in love with Da Dong, he has been trying to take vengeance on him. Unbeknownst to everyone, Lei Ke Si is KO Two, his weapon is Ares' Hand (阿瑞斯之手) and his fighting count is 10000. After everything that happened, Da Dong still considered him as a friend, and this solved all of the anger and hatred Lei Ke Si has had over the years, and the two become friends again.
After he leaves the gang to start over, he was captured and controlled by their enemy. He was converted by Hei Long into a Wu Shi (武屍) named Duo (奪), and was sent on a mission to kill Da Dong. His evil powers were subdued by a mysterious man midway through the show, allowing him to return to Da Dong as a friend. In the end, he helps the others in a fight against Hei Long and ends up losing his powers.
Lei Ke Si does not appear in the sequel, but he has made appearance in the introduction theme and the Top 10 KO Rankings Record. His alternate counterpart is Xia Yu (夏宇).
- Huang An Qi (黃安琪) - played by Lee Shu Yan / Mei ? (妹研)
A childhood friend of Da Dong and Lei Ke Si. She has been in love with Da Dong for a really long time, but never knew how he felt, nor the fact that Lei Ke Si was in love with her as well. She moved to America five years ago, but during that time she wrote to Da Dong letters every week. She never got any response from Da Dong for any of her letters, but he has secretly been collecting and memorizing them. Her love for Da Dong is the reason to why Lei Ke Si holds such anger against Da Dong. When Lei Ke Si finally reveals his identity as KO 2 and gets Da Dong into a hospital, she decides to return to America in order to forget about everything she feels about Da Dong, because she believes it is her love that has caused the rivalry between him and his best friend. But Da Dong doesn't want her to leave, and with a little nudge from Xiao Yu, he finally finds the courage to reveal to her about how he truly feels. They become a couple since then, but when their teacher begins dating, Da Dong starts acting weird and making trouble with the team. Ever since then, their relationship becomes unstable and unclear, because she can tell that he is in love with their teacher as well. After causing another rivalry between Xiao Yu and Da Dong, she returns to America.
- Sha Jie (煞姊) - played by Huang Xiao Rou (黃小柔)
Number 13th on the KO Rank. She is the leader in the girl-gang of the class. Sha Jie has been in love with Da Dong in a long time, but he hasn't shown any sign of liking her, at all. Seeing Da Dong and An Qi together makes her angry and she leaves the school.
Like Lei Ke Si, she appears only in the introduction theme. Her alternate counterpart is Xia Mei (夏美).
- Jin Bao San (金寶三) - Zhang Hao Ming (張皓明)
The monitor of the class, and is Number 135th on the KO Rank. He is often thinks he is better than everyone in class and repeatedly attempts to dethrone Da Dong so that he can be the leader of Zhong Ji Yi Ban. His performance and involvement in the class was part of what made the story interesting.
In the sequel, Ya Se mentions that Jin Bao San has become Da Dong's bodyguard. His alternate counterpart is Ren Chen Wen (任晨文).
- Cai Wu Xiong (蔡五熊) - played by Cai Yi Zhen (蔡宜臻)
A character who came into the show during the later episodes. She is the younger sister of Cai Yun Han. Wu Xiong grew up in the jungle with gorillas, and communicates in a non-human language. Wu Xiong returned to her family a year before her appearance in the show. She falls in love with Ya Se the first time she meets him, who she believes is the man for her since her youth. She knows something about the future, but does not want to reveal it. In the end, Wu Xiong captures Ya Se's heart when she uses her Xiong Zhu (熊珠) to save him and almost died because of losing it.
In the first few episodes she appeared in, she had long hair that covers her face and wore clothes that made her look like a gorilla. But later on, she changed her image when Ya Se reminded her that she is living in a human society.
She is not seen in the sequel, but she has been mentioned by Da Dong.
- Cai Yun Han (蔡雲寒) - played by Cai Han Cen (蔡函岑/寒)
A character who came into the show during the later episodes. She is Number 7th on the KO Rank. Her primary weapon is a whip (痛不欲生实话鞭) that causes people who gets whipped to tell the truth about their lies and secrets and the person who got whipped had to say their secrets out to reduce the pain. Because her parents died when she was young, she has been independent and does her best to take care of her sister. Her fighting count is between 7000 and 7500. Ever since Cai Yun Han found out that Ji An is a demon fighter, she has been falling for him, but he refused to reveal his feelings for her due to his mission and upbringing.
Her alternate counterpart in The X-Family is Han (寒).
- Ji An (技安) - played by Gong Ji An (龔繼安)
A member of the class. In the initial episodes, he seems like a normal school boy who hangs out with the rest of the class. But as the story progresses, when Ya Se begins to get possessed by the sword demon, his attitude and personality changes, making him a more serious character. Ji An reveals himself as a Demon Fighter (拔魔戰士), whose mission was to kill evil whenever it makes surface. Ever since Cai Yun Han found out that Ji An is a demon fighter, she has been falling for him, but he refused to reveal his feelings due to his focus on his mission and behavior. But although he was trained to not let his emotions cloud his judgment and affect the outcome of his mission, he did not deny that he had feelings. Especially to Yun Han.

Another member of the class Zhong Ji Yi Ban. He is Jin Bao San's follower, and often takes a big cannon with him - using it as his weapon. He is also normally seen with a small blue stuffed shark toy, earning him the nickname "shark" or "shark-boy".

Another member of the class Zhong Ji Yi Ban, he is as fat as Jin Bao San. He is also Jin Bao San's follower. He has an alternate counterpart in The X-Family called Xia Mi (瞎祕).

- Tian Xin (田欣) [Homeroom teacher] - played by Melody (殷悦)
The homeroom teacher. Because of her little brother's past and 'incident', she went to college to become a teacher, in hope to turn bad students good. At first, Da Dong did not like her at all, but was eventually touched by her kindness and decides to let her become their homeroom teacher and help them get into college. When the gang finds out that their enemy was after her because of her potential of becoming a powerful warrior, Da Dong's parents take her to safety. Although she was not seen again after she leaves, it would seem that she has returned to school and is reunited with her supposed-to-be-dead brother.
- Qian Lai Ye (錢萊冶) [Principal] - played by Ba Ge (巴戈)
The principal. He's very greedy and often plans on how to make more money. However, he is Jin Bi Ke, the author of Jin Bi Dian Long, a manga that foretells the future, which is also the cause to the war between good and evil. As the personal himself, he claims that he is neither good or evil, but the neutral person who preserves the world's balance.

Self-centered and extremely stupid. His performance is part of the reason to what made the show interesting.

A Chinese teacher that wears glasses, and is often seen hanging with the school dean, whom she's in love with, and the drillmaster. Because Miss Tian is beautiful, she is often jealous of her getting all the attention.

He is often seen hanging around the school with the Chinese teacher and the school dean.

- Duan Chang Ren (斷腸人) - played by Na Wei Xun (那維勲)
A strange man who owns a food stall. He is often mysterious and whenever Da Dong, Ya Se or Xiao Yu come to visit for food and have hard time understanding things, he gives them useful advices. He was a powerful fighter during his young age, but lost his abilities trying to protect himself from his brother Hei Long (Black Dragon). Duan Chang Ren's real name is Hong Long (紅龍 / Red Dragon).
Duan Chang Ren's an alternate counterpart in the Iron Dimension is Ye Si Ren (葉思仁).
- Tian Hong Guang (田弘光) / Wu Shi Zun (武屍尊) - played by Wu Zun (吳尊)
The little brother of Tian Xin. He was reported to have been killed in an accident, but was in fact kidnapped and controlled by a dark force. No one knew about this, but he is the highest number on the KO Rank - KO One. And his fighting point is over 30000. After the final battle, he is finally free of Hei Long's control and returned to his life as a normal kid.
His alternate counterpart is a fire ambassador, who lives beyond time and space.
- Wang Tian Yang (汪天養) - played by Chen Bo Zheng (陳博正)
Da Dong's father, whose a preacher in a church. Da Dong disguises as a good boy in school, in order to hide his true behavior. But he doesn't know either that his father was a powerful assassin known as "Dao Feng(刀疯）".
His alternate counterpart in the Iron Dimension is Xia Tian's maternal grandfather, Xia Liu (夏流).
- Ah Jiao (阿嬌) - played by Ceng Mei Hao (曾美好)
The mother of Da Dong. She is the housewife, but was previously known as "Dao Gui（刀鬼）", a weapon inventor and an assassin. She seems to have taught her son a few things about weapon developing after the events of this story.
- Dao Ba Jie Sen (刀疤傑森) - played by Huang Wan Bo (黃萬伯)
A rival of Ya Se. He has a scar that formulates an X on his face.
His alternate counterpart appears in The X-Family as a key to close the dimensional portal.
- Teacher Yu Sheng De (于聖德) - played by Li Jie Sheng (李傑聖)
A crazy former teacher of Tian Hong Guang. He went crazy and kidnapped Tian Xin, but was defeated by Wang Da Dong and sent to the phychiatric hospital.

An Qi's boring and annoying butler. He likes to talk a lot about his experiences.

Zhong Ji Yi Ban's homeroom teacher's little boyfriend. He is so smart that he entered college at the age of 12.

A member of the band Dong Cheng Wei. Although little is mentioned of him in KO One, he plays a very important role in the sequel and is the key figure who connects the two series.

Terminology
- Ba Mo Zhan (拔魔斬)
A powerful weapon in the form of an axe, used by Demon Hunters to kill any evil that makes surface. Ji An is the wielder of this weapon.
- Ah Rui Si Zhi Shiu (阿瑞斯之手)
A metal glove that was once used by the evil war god, Ares. Whenever someone puts it on, there will always be a blood bath. It also gives its master thoughts of evil, such as jealousy and hatred. The user of this weapon was Lei Ke Si, and was used by Ding Xiao Yu during the final battle against Hei Long.
- Long Wen Lao (龍紋鏊)
Da Dong's weapon in the form of a cooking pan with dragon patterns and a pearl in the center. It has the power to enhance its master's powers and produce special attacks. On occasions, it can also provide regenerating energy to revive its master. In the sequel, it's also revealed to be spiritual and can make others its new masters if it wants to, and also has the power to keep its user's strength in tact, keeping him strong even after a fierce battle. Like Han's Jing Lei, it can return to its master when it's lost. But if it's lost into a place where it can't return, the user will lose his strength rapidly and possibly die. The user of this weapon is Wang Da Dong.
- Long Zhan (龍斬)
A slicing weapon is used by Hei Long's minions. The user of this weapon is Tian Hong Guang.
- Si Zhong Jian (石中劍)
A little sword attached to a stone, reclaimed from the spiritual world. It has the power to enhance its user's abilities and also produce powerful screams. The stone keeps the sword demon under control, but once its keeping period expires, the stone will break and the demon will take over the user's body. There are originally two swords, and when these two are gathered, they will have the power to make one of the users the most powerful lord of evil in the world. The notable users of these two weapons are Wang Ya Se and Hei Long.
- Tung Bu Ru Shen Shi Hua Bian (痛不欲生实话鞭)
A whip that can't do much damage, but if it whips someone, the pain of the whipping will remain until the victim reveals his secrets or lies. The user of this weapon is Cai Yun Han.
- Xiong Zhu (熊珠)
A pearl that is guarded by gorillas. It has the power to suppress and to eliminate any energy of evil. When it lives inside the body of a human, it can suppress the evil that lurks inside of him. However, the former bearer will age to death if the pearl is not returned within a month. Cai Wu Xiong is the bearer of this pearl.
