Elephas recki is an enormous, extinct species of elephant. It lived in Africa between 3.5 and 1 million years ago. Although fossils have only been found in the eastern part of the continent, it is believed that E. recki ranged throughout Africa.
A taxidermied E. recki stands in the main lobby of the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
