Dagenham East is a London Underground station on the District Line, located in Dagenham. The station is in Zone 5 and located between Dagenham Heathway and Elm Park stations

The station was opened as Dagenham in 1885 by the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. The current station structure was opened in 1932 when the electrified District Line was extended to Upminster. The station has five platforms. Three are used by the District Line (two for through service and one for terminating trains) and another two are disused since the LT&SR service was withdrawn in 1962. The station buildings are in typical 1930s style and little trace remains of its Victorian origins.

Service

Typicial off-peak service from the station is:

  • 12 tph (trains per hour) to Upminster
  • 6 tph to Wimbledon via Tower Hill
  • 6 tph to Richmond via Tower Hill

At peak times some trains terminate here using a third bay platform instead of at Barking or Upminster.
