West Quoddy Head State Park is the main reason that I have returned from Georgia to Maine at least seven or eight times in the last 15 years. I never tire of the vista of waves crashing on enormous rocks in sight of Grand Manan Island, where Willa Cather did much of her writing. Frequently obscured in fog, the view is revealed only a little at the time, and is somewhat different every time it is seen. The nature trail is a delight, perfumed by all manner of evergreens, and includes a boardwalk over a bog where many unusual plants thrive.
