This article is concerned with Brea as an Irish mythological God; for the city of Brea see Brea, California.

In Irish mythology, the god Brea was one of the Tuatha Dé Danann.

Brea (pronounced Bray-yah) is also the name of a town in Orange County, California. The word "brea" means tar in Spanish and refers to the nearby Brea Tar Pits. This pronounciation is also used in a rock band from Morgan Hills, Ca.

Another form of the word Brea (pronounced Bree-yah) is an Old English girl's name branching off of the name "Breanna" which means strength. The first time I've heard this name without being a nickname for someone called Breanna is in the 1970's when my dad named me after a blonde contestant on Hollywood Squares. I have never heard anyone with the same name, besides myself, since then. Makes all us Brea's feel special, huh?
