Friend Project is an online social networking website very similar to MySpace,Bebo,Facebook, and many other social networks but takes some of the features from many of these sites to combine into 1 site. It is popular to mostly kids 15 years of age to young adults in the higher twenties but is open to membership for any ages. Friend Project allows users to create online profiles and interact with each other using profile comments, chatrooms, discussion forums, and messaging (interface similar to Email). simiThe site was founded on opened to the public in July 2007 by Jason Davis. .
Contents of a Friend Project Profile
Basic Profile Details
User profiles on Friend Project are very similar to MySpace profiles and allow users to use Myspace layout codes to make there profiles look almost anyway they like. Friend Project took advantage of the hundreds of 3rd party sites that provide these layouts for users so they could use layout codes. Profiles consist of a left column and a right column. On the Left column there is a users Picture block that has default picture,display name, gender, last login date, and users status along with links to view users bulletins and pictures. Under the picture block is the Ratings section where users can rate a profile on a scale of 1 to 5. Under the ratings block is the contact table which allows users to Send Mail, Add to Freinds, Send Money, Add to Favorites, Block User, and Send Fan Signs. Under contact table is optional map block and optional text message block. Under those we have basic profile details as well as a users school,companies, and networking. Once you go to the right hand column there will first be the blogs block and then about me section, under that there is Top Friends and then Profile Comments.
Maps
Users have an option in there account settings to turn display of a Google_map on and off, If turned on, it will show the map using the nearby Postal zipcode.
Text Messaging
Users have an option in account settings to allow other Friend Project registered member to send them a Text_message directly from there profile page.
Blogs
Profiles will show a link and the title and date of the 5 most recent Blog entries a user has made, if a user has not made any blog entries on the site then the blog block will remain hidden from there profile .
Friends
Profiles will shows a thumbnail image and username of there top friends. The Image and name will link to that users profile as well so you can view them. Users have the option of choosing there Top 4,6,12,16,20,24 friends on there profile.
Comments
Every profile has a profile comments section, you must be a friends of the profile you are trying to post a comment on. When a user receives a new profile comment they will receive a notification on the user homepage to let them know of the new comment. They can also in account settings, set to receive an Email notification as well. Users can also set the settings to require approval of a comment before it is shown to the public.
Profile customization (HTML)
Friend Project allows users to customize their user profile pages by entering HTML (but not JavaScript) into such areas as "About Me," "I'd Like to Meet," and "Interests.", and flash-based content can be included this way. Users also have the option to add music to their profile pages via 3rd party Music playlist services. Many users can find pre-made profile layouts from hundreds of 3rd part websites as well.
Friend Project Sections
Home Page
Users Home page is the central hub and home central point of the site, mostly every area of the site can be accessed from the member homepage. User receive notifications for new mail message, friend requests, photo comments, profile comments, blog comments, blog subscriptions, fan signs, and profile viewers. The home page also shows the most recent forum discussions, friend bulletins, newest users, and admin announcements. Other items found on the home page include random featured users, a users top friends, todays lottery stats, update status/mood block, the sites main stats, and links to various other pages of the site. The most notable feature of the member homepage is the ability to click and drag and drop boxes on the homepage to re-arrange there layout positions.
Featured User
Featured users are users that are given priveleges over regular members which consist of browsing the site without seeing any advertisements, being list on the featured users page, randomly shown on site homepage and member homepage. Features users also get granted permission to upload double the amount of pictures that a regular user can upload and get to see recent profile visitors as well as get to use a quick reply option on forums and mail. Featured users get a few other features as well. To become a featured user, a user must purchase it in the Friend Project Store with Friend Project Money which is earned by participation on various parts of the site and by referring new members to join Friend Project.
Money
""Friend Project Money"" is the official currency earned and used on the Friend Project site. Users can earn Friend Project Money from users rating there profile, from rating other users profiles, form winning the rating contest which ends every Sunday night, and from referring new members to join Friend Project with there referral link. Users can also send Friedn Project money to any user on the site. Soon there will be Friend Project Poker where users can play poker with Friend Project Money.
""Friend Project Lottery"" is a lottery system that runs 7 days a week and picks a winner every night. Lottery numbers can be purchased on the site with ""Friend Project Money"" and the winner of the lottery receives the jackpot value in Friend Project Dollars credited to there account.
""Friend Project Store"" is where users can spend the money they earn on the site, users can purchase featured status for a week/month, purchase a Friend Project t-shirt, or purchase a new custom profile URL name,
Pictures and Fansigns
Every user on the site has a picture gallery where they can upload up to 20 pictures, (Featured users get to uload 40). Every picture has it's own page where friends can leave comments on pictures. Every User also has a fan sign gallery where users can send there friends Fan Sign Images (Images with the send in them and a special message somewhere in the photo to there friend).
Bulletins
Bulletins are messages posted that all of a users friends can view. Bulletins are automaticly deleted from the site after they are 10 days old. Generally you must be a users friend to view bulletins posted by them. Newest bulletins are shown on the member homepage. Bulletins also show a thumbnail image and link to every person who has viewed the bulletin message.
Forums
Forums are threaded discussions which are posted in different categories. Users can post new topics under catgories and then other users can post reply messages to the topic messages. Forum topics are viewable to any user and most recent topics are shown on sites homepage and member homepage.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks feature is similar to Social_bookmarking sites, bookmarks section allows users to add bookmark links to there favorite websites, it will create a thumbnail image to there favorite websites and link to them. Users can re-arrange there bookmarks positions on the page by dragging them to new positions.

Every user on the site can have there very own Blog. If a user has any Blogs on the site then it will show up to the 5 newest blogs from that user on there profile page. The Blogs section of the site will show the newest to oldest blogs from every user on the site and can sort them by blog categories. Members can also leave comments on other users blog entries and subscribe to blogs and be notified when a blog they are subscribed to posts a new blog entry.
