"Now You're Gone" is a song performed by dance musician Basshunter in cooperation with DJ Mental Theo's Bazzheadz. The single is an English version of the song "Boten Anna", a major European hit in 2006. It was given the English makeover so the song could be released in the UK & Ireland.

Version differences

The theme of the song was changed; whereas the original was about an IRC bot, the English version is about a young couple breaking up over SMS, and subsequently getting over the separation with help from their friends. This is reflected in the music video. The tempo of the song has also been sped-up compared to the original.

Reception

So far the song has peaked at No.1 on the Irish Singles Chart being beat off by Britney Spears' "Piece of Me" (No.1) for only 3 weeks. In the UK it entered at No.14 on downloads alone. It has peaked at No.1 on the the UK Singles Chart and the British iTunes Chart, beating off competition from such acts as Nickelback, Britney Spears, Lupe Fiasco & Adele.

The song has become an unexpected big hit in the UK, selling over 200,000 copies as of 10 February which is a very high figure for the time of year. Its five week run at number 1 is the longest consecutive run for a dance song since 1998, when "Believe" by Cher did seven weeks.

If #1 five weeks in a row on the UK charts, Basshunter will be the first Swedish artist to do so ever.
