I feel that Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters deserve as much attention as any other hard working band out there right now. They supply us with good times and groovy music, so we should supply them with an informational webpage supporting such art. For shame!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kbeshwate (talkcontribs) 09:26, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

STAN J

There is no conflict of interest of any kind. There is no personal gain for the subject as a result of the article. Yes, to the best of our knowledge and all reliable outside sources, he is the first known African American to host an all English speaking radio show in Japan, which is non syndicated. Please check every source you have at your disposal to find another African American who has hosted an all English Speaking Radio Show in Japan besides him. Range Lights Again

Hiya there

Thanks for your reply

i dont understand what you mean i cant move lighthouses to range lights as you suggested because this would be wholly inaccurate and misleading. Could you explain further im a newbie here

Cheers Jim —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.155.136.152 (talk) 23:27, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Range Lights

The tag was removed as the article refers back to the main article of lighthouses which talks in greater depth about range lights and cites sources.

therefore the tag is inaccurate

I have removed it again

Please look at the article again and scrutinize it before taking any further action

Thank you

And why whould that be a problem, what harm could it do.

Bolton County f.c

Well i think that policy sucks!!!

Bolton County f.c

I understand what you mean but the league that they play in is on wikipedia so i dont understand why i cant just give info on the team that plays in that league. Charles Crutchfield

I disagree with the Charles Crutchfield article, I know him and this is another act of him self promoting his business. He is sending out e-mails promoting this and has put it on his website for 8000 people to see. This is Wiki not a free advertising and marketing tool I say his article should be deleted! I got his email yesterday along with 8000 other patients and his bragging about how Wiki put him on there. cmon —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hollabackgurl29 (talkcontribs) 17:07, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Read the notability criteria. They say OR, not AND. Otherwise, only woldwide rock stars would make it to Wikipedia. There is other music, an I think a 40 year career as an internationally touring musician should qualify you for inclusion. Pustelnik (talk) 18:57, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stick Online Deletion

Why was my Stick Online article deleted? The message you left me was worded extremely poorly, but I got the general message that the only way it wouldnt have been deleted is if I checked it every half minute,

Ormand cup

Ormand Cup i have removed your speedy deletion tag. since you did not read the full article. Look under the links. This cup is one of the most important boating events in the San Francisco area. The cup has a long history in the boating world. What do you know about boating? I can also put that tag up myself. I have been on here a lot longer then you. You have a record of removing articles you do not agree with. Futher i have read the rules for deletion, just because an article is short is not a reason to delete it. As a matter of fact, this article is the only one about boat racing in the San Francisco Bay area. Plenty of articles on WiKi, have few if any sources to back them up. You need to stay out of fields you do not know about. You also need a lesson in good manners, if you have heard of those.

Hi, I am wondering why TheFurniture.com was deleted. Deletion on polymer engineering article

Hi there, well i truly appreciate of being given a chance to learn this editing experience, but after doing some info-searching and studying, i realize that the article's content that i intended to make can actually be included in the other article which has already been made, polymer physics. Moreover, finding exclusive information of the article is somehow extremely difficult because its information usually overlaps with the other article, polymer science. Hence, i think...well, my article cannot fulfil the wikipedia requirement and it should be deleted. Anyway, i ain't an educator as what you guessed, i'm just a university student currently enrolling polymer engineering course. Well the article was intended to tell the people around what it is. Doesn't seem like it is gonna work now. Thanks anyway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orientalknight (talkcontribs)

Regarding Deletion of Anonymity_network

Please discuss this at its talk page. I am contesting the deletion of this page.

The Freedom of The Press

I would like a sufficient explanation as to why you nominated the article entitled, "The Freedom of the Press" by George Orwell, for deletion.

I cannot see any reason for the deletion of his original introduction, to the book Animal Farm, other than the intellectual censorship he discussed in the article.

I recently heard on the radio that Wikipedia has a page about one of Paris Hilton's dogs. I cannot believe this site is objective and promotes intellectual freedom if it censors the useful and legitimate information I was attempting to convey. The article certainly needed refinement, editing, and addition, but the censorship shown is absolutely odious.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MarkLowryCD.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:MarkLowryCD.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Ye Art Cordially Invited to the Annex

Hello, My good Fellow, listen and I shalt telleth Ye a Tale of a Wiki that well comes All Manner of Articles relating to Fiction. What is This wonderful Place of Fantasy, You ask? It is the Annex, Haven to All fiction-related Refugee Articles from Wikipedia.

Before nominating or proposing a fiction-related Article for Deletion, It is My sincerest Hope that Ye import It to the Annex. Why do This, You wonder? Individuals have dedicated an enormous Amount of Time to writing These Articles, and ’twould be a Pity for the Information to Vanish unto the Oblivion where only Administrators could see Them.

Here is a Step-by-Step Process of how to Bringeth Articles into the Annex:

  1. Ye shall need at least three Browser Tabs or Windows open. For the first Tab or Window, go to Special:Export. For the second, go here. (If Ye have not an Account at Wikia, then create One.) Do whatever Ye want for the third.
  2. Next, open the Program known as Notepad. If Ye haveth It not, then open WordPad. Go to “Save as,” and for “Encoding,” select either “Unicode” or “UTF-8.” For “Save as type,” select “All Files.” For “File name,” input “export.xml” and save It. Leave the Window open.
  3. Next, go to the Special:Export Window at Wikipedia, and un-check the two small Boxes near the “Export” Button. Input the Name of the Wikipedia Article which Ye wish to import to the Annex into the large Field, and click “Export.”
  4. Right-click on the Page full of Code which appears, and clicketh on “View Source” or “View Page Source” or any Option with similar Wording. A new Notepad Window called “index[1]” or Something similar should appear. Press Ctrl+A to highlight All the Text then Ctrl+C to copy It. Close yon “index[1]” Window, and go to the Notepad “export.xml” Window. Press Ctrl+V to pasteth the Text There, and then save It by pressing Ctrl+S.
  5. Now go to the Special:Import Window over at the Annex. Clicketh on “Browse…” and select the “export.xml” File. At last, click on “Upload file,” and Thou art done, My Friend! However, if It says 100 Revisions be imported, Ye be not quite finished just yet. Go back to Wikipedia’s Special:Export, and leave only the “Include only the current revision, not the full history” Box checked. Export That, copy the Page Source, close the “index[1]” Window, and go to the “export.xml” Window. Press Ctrl+A to highlight the Code all ready There, press “backspace” to erase It, and press Ctrl+V to pasteth the new Code There. Press Ctrl+S to save It, then upload once more to the Annex. Paste {{Wikipedia|{{PAGENAME}}}} at the Bottom of the imported Article at the Annex, and Ye art now finally done! Keepeth the “export.xml” File for future Use.

Thank Ye for using the Annex, My Friend — the Annex Hath Spoken 01:39, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pinsky phenomenon article

The Pinsky phenomenon is very important and has many citations and uses.

But it is difficult to describe, being very deep advanced mathematics.

Getting the ideas together will take time.

Then the maths typsetting will take time.

Please do not speedily delete.

It is a stub and I will work on it as often as I have time, being a busy student.

Mark Pinsky who discovered the phenomenon and did the mathematics never refers to it in his own books or research papers with his own name; he seems to be too humble for this, and others just use it, without a detailed description.

So this will take time and a lot of work, but should be mentioned as a stub because of its importance.

Thanks. AmeliaElizabeth (talk) 18:03, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Overzealous speedy deletion request

Hi - with respect to F. B. Vickers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) your request for speedy deletion seems overzealous in hindsight and probably was so at the time also. I note you already have another message to similar effect. Perhaps you should slow down a little. The page was created by a new user who perhaps needed some help to become a useful contributer. The page quite clearly indicated the subject was a published author [2] a google search would ahve allowed you to improve the article and develop a new contributer instead.--Matilda talk 06:33, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Per your message and your AfD !vote - You voted to delete a published author? On what grounds - spite surely becuase it won't be notability! Did you try the Auslit references provided in the article? Google for F B Vickers shows clearly that he is a published author with the first 4 out of 5 hits clearly relevant to him as an author. Have a look at the diff provided above that you tagged for speedy deletion - brief yes - but your new pages patrolling is in my view destructive rather than useful if this is an example of your work. CSD G1 states Patent nonsense and gibberish, an unsalvageably incoherent page with no meaningful content. This does not include: poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, vandalism, fictional material, material not in English, badly translated material, implausible theories, or hoaxes of any sort; some of these, however, may be deleted as vandalism in blatant cases. Note the non inclusions - the original version was brief but it was not poorly written, it was not nonsense and gibberish, an unsalvageably incoherent page with no meaningful content - google of the first line - ie very little work for you - produced verifiability - the tag should have been to clean up, wikify, expand, .... --Matilda talk 20:03, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Noted you used A1 rather than G1 - hence strike through above--Matilda talk 21:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • I feel excessively crabby in my comments above - in part to be blamed on communication by text and in part to be blamed that I should try harder and thus I do apologise and will try harder in future.
I noted your further comments to the AfD. I appreciate the "marginal notability" position and had already stated it in my expanded comment earlier this afternoon. He seems to have been better known as Bert [3] - had a library named after him (not a building I think but a reference collection of Western Australian books), ... The Austlii links are not very satisfactory but do allow verification of the article claims (I am not a subscriber either). I still think he is atl east the worth of a Pokemon card! Algon page

Algon The page is yes about a band and i am still in the process of writing and formatting it. I am currently still gathering all the information needed to write an accurate page. Please allow time for me to finish the page im a very busy guy. I will request that other members of my community help due to Algon's extreme popularity in my area they should help out a lot. They play a particularly significant role in the area. They are very influential and i feel they have the need to have their story expressed. While being a two man band their music is only a small part of their role in the community. It is due to the figure these to boys stand for that makes this band so significant. They have greatly influenced the local government and raised money for several charities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Algon9 (talkcontribs) 05:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have piqued my interest now. The tool is very popular and was developed by User:Interiot. It is showing that you have less than 12,000 edits to date and that you first edited on 19 August 2005. I offer you an apology and I hope that you will accept it. I have been going in to bat (so to speak) based on a mistaken belief that you or TWINKLE had not warned Johnfos about an impending speedy. That is clearly incorrect and on closer digging I see that Johnfos has not been forthright in his returns on this matter. I copy for your information from his talk page his and my response upon my questioning him with the same material I provided to you as detailed above

Regarding Christian magazine and books

These two topics cover the Christian magazine and Christian book which is quite large in the United States and in Australia. What is your point of dispute? Thanks. Vividenblem (talk) 02:18, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The notability page says "A topic is presumed to be notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." I believe that Chrisitan bookstores such as Parable and Family Life store and Koorong which solely survive on selling Christian books indicate that it is of notability. I cannot find the source on Wikipedia which indicates there must be enough physical difference for an article to be notable. For instance, there are various lines of philosophical thought which have no physical difference, but yet they are notable. I believe that Christian print is a subsidiary of print, thus should be separated from print and discussed in it's own right.

Your prod on Camp Raymond (BSA)

As the article creator contested the prod I have taken the article to AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Raymond (BSA). Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 05:54, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can delete it. I apologize.

Ashley Perry Deletion

Why was my page on Ashley Perry deleted? He is very well-known in Israel.

You deleted it when I was only writing the first paragraph and hadn't put in any of the links that I intended to do so. Why didn't you wait to see the finished article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yaacov33 (talkcontribs) 13:45, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for your message on my talkpage. From a quick review of his contributions the only action by Maulwurfel since I lifted the block is to blank his talkpage. All removals of notices, etc. were prior to the block. My understanding is that he is going to create the articles on his native German wikipedia, and then translate them over to here. I hope this clarifies the situation. LessHeard vanU (talk) 00:56, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for deletion/List of claims made by Zeitgeist, the Movie

  • I just created this page a week ago Friday (Jan 25) and so far I have been the only editor of this page, but I would like to avoid having it deleted in the hope that other editors will collaborate on it with me.
  • I want to let you know that many things have changed regarding this article since you voted to have it deleted.
  • I have fully read and responded to every Wikipedia guideline that I have been referred to,
  • I have modified my plans for the article and changed the way I view the subject in order to fit within those guidelines,
  • I have explained my position and my goals in detail on the AfD for the page,
  • and I have completely blanked the talk page of the article since most of the concerns about guidelines involved the talk page and not the actual article.
  • I am sure you will find that I have made a great effort to contribute to the usefulness and quality of Wikipedia, and that my actions are motivated by a desire to improve Wikipedia and to keep Wikipedia neutral.
  • I believe that the only guidelines my article can still be accused of violating are those concerning "notability" and "lists of random facts" and being that this is such a young article, I urge you to revisit the article, the AfD for the article, as well as the article's talk page, and make sure that you still feel that the article needs to be deleted right now.
  • Thank-you for your time, and I appreciate your efforts in keeping Wikipedia clutter-free!

I have deleted this article while you were preparing the AfD for it. The deletion was because all articles this user created today were copyright violations, some more obvious than others. User claied public domain for some, but as you can see here[4], this is incorrect (they weren't actual law texts but sumaries). Anyway, I would agree that even if they were public domain, they would belong on Wikisource, not here. I hope you don't mind that I speedied instead of letting the AfD happen, but copyright violations are more urgent than most other considerations. Fram (talk) 09:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for removing your speedy tag on this article -- it's just that I noted an assertion of notability within its text. Frankly, I don't believe the assertion, and I'm going to AfD this to get rid of it, but I can totally understand why you tagged it. I just wanted to apologize for second-guessing you, because, having seen your hard work in deletion before, I respect your decisions. Accounting4Taste:talk 19:47, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for understanding. The AfD is set and I'd love to see this gone speedily -- I just have the occasional pang of conscience about even the silliest assertions of notability, that's all. Much obliged. Accounting4Taste:talk 19:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Again, my thanks (and now we know it's gone for good). I think you were right -- next time I'll just quiet that pang and save everyone some time. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:51, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that I haven't finished writing the article yet. If you're going to nominate it for deletion, could I please request that you defer the vote until I've done so? CJCurrie (talk) 07:14, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The notability guidelines permit the inclusion of articles on municipal politicians who have received significant local coverage. Boychuk has, and in my view merits an article accordingly. CJCurrie (talk) 07:33, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There are far more than three articles. As I said, I'm not finished. (And I should note that I only have access to online articles going as far back as 1993; I'm sure there are several relevant pieces that I don't have access to at present.) CJCurrie (talk) 07:38, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew Keenan-Bolger

You removed the speedy tag without comment in the edit summary. Please state your reason. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 08:36, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reason is the previous comment in edit summary. I forgot to remove the tag at that time so I did it a a separate edit. Broadly, the guy is borderline, IMV, and better dealt with at AfD (which may also turn up some better sources). --ROGER DAVIES talk 08:53, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Strange. It's not there. Thanks for not biting my head off for misinforming you :) All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 09:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was more curious than anything else, really. You aren't required to give a reason, of course, but an editor with your extensive experience usually does. I'm going to give the original author a bit more time to make his or her case before I take it to AfD. The author is a newbie, and has asked about what is needed to improve the article. That's a good sign, but as I've said before, the best-written article in the world can't help a subject that isn't notable. Thanks, Roger. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 18:09, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome job on the article! I have nominated the article in the WP:DYK section of the main page for the best new articles. I did a little paragraph formating but the article is for the most part what you wrote. I added a paragraph at the end about Pemberton's call that went against his brother so that there would be an interesting hook for DYK. Royalbroil 23:05, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pyong

Why do you keep thinking it is not notable. It is one of the most popular emoticons in the world and it deserves to have a place to be cited for the general public. It is way more notable than many things on this site that get through. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomoya-kun (talkcontribs) 21:43, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please Fasten Your Seatbelts

Why is this page being taken down almost as soon as I post it? Please Fasten Your Seatbelts is a legitimate recording band, and this is not for promotional purposes. They have played numerous shows with signed and local bands alike. Just because they are not on a major label does not make them notable. Monkeyfloop

I disagree completely, as I can point to numerous examples of unsigned bands on Wikipedia. So tell me what about them is so un-notable, as they fit into other categories that these other unsigned bands fit into as well. Monkeyfloop —Preceding comment was added at 08:42, 11 February 2008

Well I will definitely get onto proving the merit of the article, sorry if I seemed a bit short earlier, I just try to make credible articles and then they are just deleted right from underneath me, and it is a bit frustrating. Monkeyfloop (UTC)

Could you please explain, how my bio is any different than that of anyone else who has run for political office? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qoholeth (talkcontribs) 09:34, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In a nutshell, bios for notable politicians are put completely together by independent third parties from reliable published sources. A rule of thumb goes that if someone has to write their own bio and is only able to fill it by using material they have written themselves, they aren't notable enough for inclusion in a global encyclopedia. See also conflict of interest for an explanation of the neutrality issues. --ROGER DAVIES talk 10:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DarkSun

The article is unlikely to be deleted. I do agree that I need to enunciate the band's notability better. I think it could be btter just to tag on the article because you're right about one thing - it needs references. I'm gonna put this on their talk page Rockk3r Talk to me15:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've been researching, and asked other community members to research, and it seems entirely possible that this user is a sockpuppet of User:BorisTheBlade. Just so you're aware of developments -- I'll keep you posted. I am told that this user disappears when revealed as another in a string of sockpuppets and pops up again under a different name, so let's both watch for that -- if a set of edits crops up referring to the barefootedness of, say, Nancy Drew or heaven knows what. On the band's official website says that they have worked with many important bands like: Primal Fear, Sinner, Rage, Angra... Also says that their album El Lado Oscuro had a great acceptance by the public and was named one of the best Spanish heavy metal albums of the year, they have releasedn 3 studio albums in 5 or 6 years and they are recordind their 4th one DarkSun Website, They wouldn't lie on their website. If this is not important tell me what is then. I'll put this in the article's entry Rockk3r talk 13:06, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: FICTWARN

Saw your message on User talk:Jerry - the injunction has commonly been interpreted as applying to deletion of lists and navigational templates on the basis of the nonexistence of the articles they link to. I can see how some people might see this as extending to all deletion of such things. —Random832 18:48, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Crawford Architects

I would like some advice as to how to make the Crawford Architects articles not sound like an advertisement. I am trying to base this article off of similar articles, BNIM and 360 Architects. Some of the references are older newspaper articles which have been posted on Crawford's website, rather than just a link to a project description by Crawford Architects. Please advise. "However, a differentiation should be made between spam articles and legitimate articles about commercial entities." And what does it change in the neutral way of speaking? Why does admitting being involved changing the whole context or value of a page? If it was no problem before, why now? Sorry for being honest in that point, but you really think 10 page long articles about games with inview just appear by regular fans? And I may ask, do you admins communicate with each other? I got granted the chance to expand this page as soon as I have written the German version of it, thanks for clearing up things in forehead before deleting articles with a complete naive attitude. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maulwurfel (talkcontribs) 00:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see that it is really hard to get into WP by just having a limited amount of time, as said one admin was suggesting to me to write the article in German first than transfer into English since my time is very limited, for that he removed all tags from the entry. I came a long and wanted to expand it with an description of the series and all of their names, since it changed very often..., well there wasn't much to expand anymore and this is very annoying if you tried several times to do what admins or bots suggested and don't even get a change in a normal time to fix the problems, mostly the article is removed or deleted a couple of minutes after editing. I know the problem of such a popular place like Wiki and the many entries, but this doesn't support any newcomers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maulwurfel (talkcontribs) 20:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you a lot, still one question, where is the article left? :)

Updated DYK query On 15 February, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Robin Pemberton, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
