Summary of Video games WikiProject open tasks:

Updated

I've added a lot more to the gameplay section, left the expansions section as is and added a story section. Might be worth someone adding a music section, I couldn't find much on it. Still needs a lot of cleaning up though. Crimsonfox 14:44, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Added some references and a bit of info on the sound/duels and slow downs. Someone might want to actually put in how the game actually plays, I'm unsure of how to word it of yet. Crimsonfox 22:36, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Needs less whining about the voice acting, lol. 198.161.203.6 22:07, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:VG Assessment

Rating: Start (Decreased from the B awarded using User talk:Outriggr/metadatatest.js.) Importance: Mid (Unchanged)

  • Has no external links. (i.e: 'places to look for further information on the subject', like official sites or very notable community sites like HeavenGames or Gamereplays)
  • Bold words like here aren't generally done on Wikipedia.
  • Plot and Sound sections are stubs. Expand upon them. Note that a list does not count as content.
  • All the Chinese mythology in the game sounds interesting, but besides the names, I don't read much about it. A 'Setting' section with information from the linked articles (all the characters basically) would be helpful.

Right, added some external links, got rid of the bold words, expanded the plot section, added a small setting section. Still quite stumped on the music section though, can't find any information on it at all. Might have a browse through the credits of the game. need to get a picture or two for the story/gameplay section. Crimsonfox 00:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorted out those references (I think) and added more to that setting section. Tempted to add some quotes from the game to back the story up though.
I copied the "Voice acting" bit from the main Dynasty Warriors article, do I need to quote it or is it all right to leave it like that? Going to re-apply for assessment. Crimsonfox 20:52, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VG Assessment part Dos

In response to a second request at [Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Assessment|WP:VG/Assessment]].

I'm bumping it up to B-class, but there are still many things to work on before it will be ready for GA-class.

  • Gameplay: It's a good section, but it needs to start with the gamplay of DW4, not changes from DW3. Don't assume that everyone reading the article has played/knows anything about DW3.
  • Characters: Add a few sentences just saying that there are 42 characters that are playable, based on real and semifictional characters from the Rot3K story, blah blah. I know that you're linking to the List of chars in DW page, but for summary style like that you still need a quick summary.
  • Sound: The first sentence here should be cut, and the rest merged into Gameplay, it's too short for it's own section
  • Reception: You don't have a reception section. This is a major problem. Check out some of the video game Featured Articles for ideas about what it should look like. I'm a bit leery about giving this article B-class without it, but I'll let it slide by for now.

Other than that, good job on following through on the suggestions given so far! It's nice to see someone really acting on them, and so quickly as well. --PresN 23:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed a lot of the comparisons and made them more descriptive about the actual game rather than its predecessors and moved some of the paragraphs around so it flows a little better in gameplay. Added the music section under gameplay and added a little to it. Made the character summary longer but still need to add to it.
Reception is hard, I moved the voice acting to it but I'm not finding much else anywhere about it. Crimsonfox 17:07, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reception is a little more meated out now. If anyone has any news on DW4, do add it, even if it is small, someone might be able to expand on it. Crimsonfox 01:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I've covered everything in that last assesment so I'm going to re-apply to see if I should go ahead and get a peer review (I think that's how it is done anyway). If possible, could someone sort that screenshot at the bottom out, I'm not sure it's done properly on the copyright bit. Crimsonfox 15:37, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please submit for (VG) Peer Review. There's nothing assessment can do for you now, because we aren't supposed to rate articles as A-class yet. --User:Krator (t c) 17:06, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ironically, that's changed now. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Assessment#Requests for A-Class status to nominate a VG article for A-class status. Peer Review is still reccomended, though the response you get is hit or miss sometimes, and it's generally preferable (though not necessary) to nominate an article for GA class before A class. I'm actually going to go ahead and GAC it for you, just to see what happens, but I would recommend trying to find more sources, mainly for the Story and Expansions sections. I'll say as much at the Peer review, just so there's something there. --PresN 16:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's much appreciated, I'll get some sources for the story later today, I've got a whole list ready, just need to prepare them. Crimsonfox 16:56, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll say what I said at peer review, sourced all of story apart from a little from Wu and Wei and pretty much done the expansions section. Anything else? Crimsonfox 18:55, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Length

I know it says that 32kb is long for an article, but it seems like a lot of it is references, does that still count towards it being long? Crimsonfox 03:30, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No; although both prose and references are included in the number at the top of the article, only prose counts toward the length for reviews and whatnot. Generally, 30-50 KB of prose isn't too long. Anything over 50 might need splitting. So although this article says 34 KB, it's probably only 28-30 KB of prose. — Deckiller 19:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that cleared that up nicely. Crimsonfox 19:15, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA

I'll go ahead and pass it if authors are added to relevent references, and a fair use rationale and sources are added to the images. — Deckiller 20:13, 27 March 2007 (UTC)  Done[reply]

Added the sources and got rid of that screenshot, I'll take some decent screens at a later date. From what I know, GA doesn't require images does it? Crimsonfox 22:23, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All set; lack of images is never a reason to oppose, but images do need rationale if they are included. — Deckiller 23:36, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

The music section shouldn't be a subsection under gameplay. Perhaps the gameplay needs some bulking up/sectionizing into subsections? There should be a section describing its differences and innovations compared to past games in the series (i.e. musou mode vs specific character's campaigns). Also, maybe some history of the game, i.e. what systems it came out for first, if it was ported to other systems for any particular reason, game production stuff, etc. Shrumster 04:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Until more information for the music has been found I can't really give it its own section because it's just too small at the moment. Totally agree with the history bit though and I added that into the lead section. I'm not sure if there's enough differences between version though to warrant a new section, I think the summary of the new features in the first paragraph of the gameplay section is enough. FA Nom

I'm going to put this in as a FA Candidate. At the moment it seems like this is the best way to get a good feedback if it needs improving further. I feel it almost or does meet the criteria. Crimsonfox 13:20, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stages

Since Dynasty Warriors 3 and 5 have stages someone who owns Dynasty Warriors 4 should add 'em along with Xtreme legends stages. --76.103.233.244 01:30, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delisted GA

However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAC. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GA/R.

  • The article needs a copyedit as shown by the copyedit tags on it. Once this is cleared up feel free to re-nominate this at the candidates page.

On the copyedit request

Alrighty, i've copyedited about half of the article, will finish later and notify LOCE that its been copyedited. But for now, leaving it alone, as i'm not finished. Erythromycin (talk) 04:01, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

At the bottom of the "Gameplay" section, a picture is shown of a character riding a horse. The picture is captioned as being of Guan Yu, and that is what the text in the picture says, but the character shown is Zhuge Liang. Another picture that does not have the wrong name should be used to replace this one.
