My Web is a social bookmarking website created by Yahoo! in June 2005 [1]. It is currently in beta. It allows you to submit a site, along with a description, either just for yourself, for selected contacts (see below) or for everyone. When submitted, you also add tags so that other users can search keywords on the My Web homepage and see your submitted site.

Contacts

Users can add contacts to their My Web account, which allows them to view your tags and even some tags that you submitted as only viewable by them. A criticism for the Invite Contacts feature is that it seems the main purpose of it is to attract more users to My Web.

Replaced by Yahoo! Bookmarks and Del.icio.us?

In late 2006 Yahoo! introduced an improved Yahoo! Bookmarks service, with a tagging facility, and encouraged My Web users to transfer their bookmarks to this service. As Yahoo also owns Del.icio.us the future strategy seems to be to encourage those who want a personal bookmark service to use Yahoo! Bookmarks, and those who want a social bookmarking service to use Del.icio.us.
