Some of the churches are fairly strict on the women not cutting thier hair. It has nothing to do with Sampson. See I Corinthians 11:14-15. Today most of the congregations are not as strict on the hair cutting and believe that the Corinthian reference was probably meant toward transvestites.

A minority of congregations still teach that people should not seek medical treatment. Most do not teach that anymore. Almost all still practice the laying on of hands as described in the book of James.

I would be happy to speak with you about the Church. Feel free to email me at shane@shanetoland.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanetoland (talkcontribs) 21:31, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn

There are a few branches of the church, and I believe that Shane belongs to a separate one from me.

Stricter branches usually break away from the lenient ones, resulting in a (painful) division.... I have seen at least two of these, one in California and one in Lindsay.

The branch that I belong to is fairly widespread, ranging from the entire US west coast to at least Kansas (I haven't been past there). Though we are spread out, we often travel across the country to visit others of our faith... Oklahoma brethren often come here to California, and we often go to Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, etc. We know many of the other members by name.

We are strict on women not cutting hair and men not having long hair. We also do not believe in doctoring; my entire family, dating back at least three generations, never doctored, as with many others in the church. We live as long as the average man that doctors, so we are proof that you don't need to rely on medications for a long life.

It has nothing to do with Sampson.

I can't think of anything else to say right now, but if you leave a message on my talk page I will get back to you. SirVenom (talk) 06:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
