Rudolf Wille

Rudolf Wille (born 1937) is a German mathematician, and was from 1970 to 2003 Professor in the Mathematics department at TU Darmstadt. He continues to be active in research and teaching as an emeritus professor in the department.

Since 1976 he has also been a member of the board of directors of the Intitute for Philosophy at the university. Since 1983, he has been leader of the research group on Formal concept analysis, and since 1993 chairman of the "Ernst Schröder Center for conceptual knowledge engineering.

His research interests encompass Algebra, order and lattice theory, Foundations of Geometry, discrete mathematics, measure theory, mathematical music theory, philosophy of science, formal concept analysis, conceptual knowledge engineering, and contextual logic.

He has overseen more than 100 Diplom- and Staatsexamenarbeiten in Mathematics, 51 Dissertations, and 8 postdoctoral qualifications.
