Axtell is an unincorporated town in Sanpete County, Utah, United States, on U.S. Route 89 between Gunnison and Salina. The town was settled in 1870 and was named Willowcreek for the small, willow lined creek where the settlement was on. It was renamed Axtell on March 15, 1876, after Axel Einerson, an early settler.
