CIQX-FM is an FM radio station in Calgary, Alberta. Broadcasting at 103.1 FM, the station airs a classic hits/oldies format branded as "XL 103 FM".

History

CIQX-FM officially began broadcasting on August 30th, 2001, at 1:03 PM, formerly known as "The Breeze", however, the station was rebranded on December 26th, 2005 as "California 103", a Soft adult contemporary/jazz format.

On March 3, 2008, at 3:00 PM local time, the station switched to the current classic hits/oldies format branded as "XL 103". The last song played on "California 103" was "Like a Lover" by Emelie-Claire Barlow and the first song played by "XL 103 FM" was "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John according to Nielsen BDS.

The station is owned by a partnership between Newcap Broadcasting and Standard Broadcasting. The station's license was originally awarded to Telemedia, but that company was acquired by Standard Broadcasting before CIQX launched. It is now wholly owned by Newcap.
