Scimitar is a game engine created by video game developer Ubisoft for use on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Assassin's Creed

The first game to use the Scimitar Engine is Ubisoft Montreal's title Assassin's Creed.

Technology

The engine uses Autodesk's HumanIK middleware to correctly position the character's hands and feet in climbing and pushing animations at run-time. [1].

Other games

Claude Langlais, Assassin's Creed's technical director, confirmed that a separate game using the Scimitar engine is currently in development and is set to be revealed in 2007[2], but as of January 27, 2008 no such game has been announced. But on IGN, it was announced that a prequel Prince of Persia game will be made using the Scimitar engine.
