Welcome
Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Here are some other hints and tips:
- I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
- When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.
If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. . dave souza, talk 09:20, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your courtesy and for formally inviting me into the wiki community, but I must decline. I do not want a username. This site is a farce and demonstrates to me how terrible it is when small groups of people attempt to control knowledge. I often do searches in Google and very frequently WIki articles are returned at the top. I am so sick of reading blatantly biased articles on Wiki, I consider this site to be junk. I have tried in the past to contribute, but sadly, most articles on wiki have a contingent of "hawks" that revert, revert, revert so that there is no possible way to change an article. I can cite dozens and dozens of terribly biased articles that are uneditable due to a small amount of people who "hover over them" day and night. I have a life. I don't have time to hover over an article. Most wikipedians are white caucasions who consider themselves "intellectuals" (I call them pseudointellectuals) and many of them probably are males, white collar, lean towards socialism, lean against capitalism, lean towards secularism, lean against religiosity, more urban, less rural, and spend far too much time on the computer. The result is inevitable: systemic bias throughout the site. So no, I will not get a username. I have no intention of validating this site by getting a username. It is not required and I will not do it.

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. It appears you have not followed this policy at Talk:Intelligent design. Please always follow our core policies. Thank you. Orangemarlin 05:31, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 01:30, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Recommend creating an account
Get an account, protect your privacy. Your I.P. gives up much information. Better to get an account. TableMannersC·U·T 08:48, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, we remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Talk:Barack Obama. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
- Your continued tone at Talk:Barack Obama is not helpful towards working collaboratively with other editors. If you continue to be incivil, you may be blocked. Please consider changing the way you comment on talk pages. Thank you. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 02:50, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
mccain controversy
for clarity, it may be helpful if you mark your comment with '''Delete''', since this is an informal 'vote' as to whether to keep or delete the article. signing the comments would also be good. Anastrophe (talk) 19:48, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Please do not attack other editors, which you did here: Barack Obama. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Loonymonkey (talk) 02:40, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Blocked
Despite several warnings, you continue to edit disruptively and troll talk pages.
This is not acceptable behavior for Wikipedia editors. I have blocked you from editing for the next 24 hours. Please read and follow the Wikipedia policies on editing in a civil manner, don't make personal attacks, and assume good faith about other editors.
Please be advised that we are perfectly capable of and willing to block your entire IP range if you keep editing in this manner from nearby IP addresses. Threatening us as above is only going to get you further blocked and your neighbors all angry at you. Please don't go down this road - we can stop you from editing, permanently if we have to. We don't want to do that to anyone, but we will if you continue to provoke people.
Thank you. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 05:04, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Ahhh cmon Gerogie...make it permanent....why would anyone want to contribute to a site run by trolls? Thats right, you are a troll for banning someone who only wanted to contribute. Don't like what I legitimately contribute? Thats your problem. Now, please make the ban permanent, or I'll gladly come back in 2 days and continue to make legitimate contributions. You, georgie, are the troll. Now stay off my user page, as long as I can edit this page, I'll be happy to delete any comments you further make.
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
