Necco
Necco is an acronym for the New England Confectionery Company. The company was founded as Chase and Company in 1847 by brothers Oliver R. and Silas Edwin Chase. It is the oldest multi-line candy company in the United States.
Necco now has two manufacturing facilities and employs approximately 1,200 people. Their headquarters is in Revere, Massachusetts, and the other factory is in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The historic factory building in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was taken over for labs by Novartis in 2003. Annual sales of Necco's candies garner nearly $100 million.
In December 2007, Necco was purchased by American Capital Strategies, Ltd.[1]
