A girls' night out is a gender-exclusive activity upon which women meet to engage in social activities, usually after a workday. Typical activities may include dinner and a movie, meeting over beverages, a book club, or watching a television program together, perhaps elsewhere of home. The purpose is to have shared participation within a group of adults of the same gender. Women's issues might also be discussed. However, the event is often looked down upon by the other sex, due to its gender-exclusive nature which is often seen as alienating[citation needed]. A very good example of a Girl's Night Out can be related to Miley Cyrus's popular song, "Girl's Night Out (G.N.O.)", where she mentions that the boy she is talking to had better run and she won't have to think about him[citation needed].
