Benjamin N. Cardozo High School
Cardozo High School is a high school located in Bayside neighborhood of Queens in New York City. Its full name is Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, and it is sometimes called "'Dozo" by its students and others. The school is named for U.S. Supreme Court justice Benjamin Cardozo.
Though a moderate amount of violence and crime pervades this school, the same can be said for most high schools in New York City, and the area is relatively affluent and safe compared to the rest of New York City. Some have rated it among the best public high schools in the city, and in 1998 Newsweek magazine rated it one of the top 100 schools in the United States. [1] A large amount of the students who go to Cardozo are from out of the school's district.
True to its namesake, the school is known around New York City for its law program, offering classes in such subjects as contract law as well as a law internship program. In addition, the school's DaVinci program provides students an emphasis on scientific classes.
