"Alexandria" is an unusual personal name. Is perhaps "Alexandra" meant?

Alexander and Alexandra
I would suggest two improvements to the "Alex is sometimes short for Alexander and Alexandra" claim:
1) Move it to the article proper (the introduction) 2) Make the names wiki-links so you can click them
