RG Veda manga, volume 1 (Japanese version)

RG Veda (聖伝; Seiden) is a manga made by CLAMP. RG Veda is published in English by TOKYOPOP.

RG Veda is one of CLAMP's earlier works, featuring elements of Sanskrit mythology; the title itself is an alteration of Rig Veda, which is the earliest of the four Hindu religious scriptures known as the Vedas. There is a manga and an anime OVA. The latter lasted for two episodes, but what was made is available on DVD. The plot consists of various good and evil gods and goddesses who are at war with each other. Seemingly at the center of all of this is one genderless god named Ashura. Ashura has two egos, one is evil with a tall, slim build. This Ashura wants to destroy the world. The good Ashura is portrayed as a young child. This young Ashura must control his alter ego for the sake of the world, with the help of Yasha-ou, a muscular god who acts as Ashura's guardian.
