Taunggyi (Burmese: ), is the capital of Shan State, Myanmar. Taunggyi has a population of approximately 200,000, and is 1400 meters (4590 feet) above sea level. It is known for its outdoor markets, which sell fresh produce. Shan are predominant in this city, although there are sizable numbers of smaller minorities.
