Florida Suncoast

The 'Sun Coast' is a colloquial name for the west-central and southwest Florida coastal area between Tampa Bay and Naples. The region is known for miles of beach and sunny days from early December through the following May. Housing prices have been going up at 20-40% per year since 2000 as baby boomers move to the Sun Coast of Florida. The name Sun Coast is popular with car dealers and other retail outlets.

It is the area of prime beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, west side of Florida. Not far above Tampa, the beaches change character to swamp land near the coast. There are two of the Sun Coast beaches that have been named in the top 10 of the United States. It is a huge retirement area attracting hundreds of thousands of retirees.
