Manx Line

Manx Line was the name of the ferry company whom brought the "Roll-on Roll-off" era to the Isle of Man between 1979 - 1984.

The company operated one Spanish vessel Monte Castillo which was renamed "Manx Viking". The Company operated between Douglas and Heysham and offered very very serious competition to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and at one point it was thought they would close.

In 1984 the first easterly gale to blow wrecked Manx Lines linkspan, the company subsequently closing.

THEY ARE NOTABLE FOR BRINGING THE ROLL ON ROLL OFF ERA TO THE ISLE OF MAN AND WERE THE FIRST COMPANY TO DO SO.
