The National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) is a 501(c)3 international, educational association made up of 10,000+ individuals with an interest in academic advising in the U.S., Canada, and around the world.
History
NACADA was founded in 1977, officially opening its National Executive Office at Kansas State University in 1990 (Beatty 1991).
About the Organization
NACADA draws members from more than 1700 institutions and from all areas of college life; they include faculty, professional advisors, graduate students, student support personnel, peer advisors, and administrators. NACADA is a member of the [Council for the Advancement of Standards] (CAS). NACADA enhances the knowledge, skills, and professional development of those interested in academic advising through a wide-variety of methods including: conferences, institutes, Web-based resources and seminars, research-based publications, a speaker and consultants’ service, and an awards programs. Online Masters degree and graduate certificate programs are offered in conjunction with Kansas State University where the Executive Office has been housed since 1990. NACADA will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2009.
