The Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) Class 8800 was a class of ex-British War Department Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0STs formed when NS bought 27 of them just after the Second World War. They had been built by the Hunslet Engine Company (12), W. G. Bagnall (3), Robert Stephenson and Hawthorne (RSH) (6) and Hudswell Clarke (6).

Preservation

Three ex-NS locomotives have survived along with several sister Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0STs which did not belong to NS. No. 8826 is preserved at the Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappij (ZLSM) in Limburg. No. 8811 is preserved at the Stoomstichting Nederland (SSN) in Rotterdam. No. 8815 has been repatriated to Great Britain. Named Walkden it is being restored on the Ribble Steam Railway.
