Ellen Spertus

Ellen Spertus is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Mills College, Oakland, California, United States, and a research scientist at Google.[1] She grew up in Glencoe, Illinois and attended New Trier High School.[2] She attended MIT, were she received a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering in 1990, a master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in1998.[3][1] During college, she spent several summers working for Microsoft.[2] She is the author of technical as well as social articles, often combining the two. She was profiled in a 1993 New York Times article about "women who might change the face of the computer industry" and a 2003 follow up article.[3] In 2001 she was named "The Sexiest Geek Alive".[4] She was a leasee of one of the approximately 1,000 General Motors EV1s.[5] She is married to computer scientist Keith Golden.[3]
