Regarding square golf holes

I got the following e-mail from the golf club:

Crail Golfing Society is the first Golf Club to record the fact that they used iron liners for their holes but as they were referred to as 'rings' I doubt that they could have been square.

Nice thought though.

I have been unable to find a reference elsewhere to square holes, and as can be seen above, the gold club itself does not know anything about it. I find it plausible that someone has mistaken first irons rings for first round holes. Cnyborg 22:09, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
