Viva Voce

Viva Voce is an American indie rock band formed by husband and wife duo Kevin and Anita Robinson.

History

Viva Voce was formed in 1998 in the Robinson's native Muscle Shoals, Alabama, relocated to Nashville and then to the Portland, Oregon area in 2001. The debut Hooray for Now, released in 1998 was ill-fated. When Cadence became insolvent and was liquidated, the Robinsons took a hiatus, focusing on family matters. Eventually, they formed their own label, Amore!Phonics, and released 2003's Lovers, Lead the Way! in conjunction with Asthmatic Kitty. The follow up, The Heat Can Melt Your Brain, was released in 2004 on the Minty Fresh label and has garnered positive critical response and heightened exposure for the band. Broadening their fanbase worldwide, Viva Voce has toured extensively in Europe after signing with UK indie powerhouse, Full Time Hobby. They have spent time touring with the indie band The Shins and Jimmy Eat World. Their newest album, entitled, Get Yr Blood Sucked Out, was released August 21, 2006 in Europe and September 12, 2006 in the USA. After playing their final show of 2007 on September 6 during MusicfestNW, Kevin announced that Viva Voce will be working on their new album and will continue touring in 2008. Viva Voce are currently on tour with Jimmy Eat World.
