Image copyright problem with Image:Deletedarthur.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Deletedarthur.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 18:51, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 19:12, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for reminding me.S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I suppose I should say 'congratulations on creating your first article'. The reason I say 'suppose' is because there are a few problems with the article that you are going to have to deal with if you want to avoid it being deleted.
- Copyright violation -- I followed the link and found that the article text is pretty much word-for-word what is on the linked page. This is just not allowed. The copyright in that text belongs to the website owners, and it cannot be copied here. Anyone else who spots this is quite at liberty to delete the offending text - result: no article!
- Fortunately there is a solution. 'All' you have to do is rewrite the text in your own words, so that it no longer looks like it has been copied off that website.
- Notability -- I'm not sure I can help much with this one, but you can. I had no idea that this boat existed (nor the TV series, come to that!), and I think it is just as worthy of an article as the other individual boats on WP. What you need to do is trawl the internet looking for really good websites that refer to the boat specifically and indicate its importance. For example, it has been used to tour around America promoting water safety -- that is worth mentioning in the article as a section on its own.
- Verifiability -- if you resolve the Notability issues, this should be sorted too
- General editing points:
- The article does not belong to a category yet
- There are almost no wikilinks to other pages -- in particular, Theodore Tugboat!!
- A section on the construction, origins, and history of the boat is needed
- A picture or two. Obviously you must make sure they are free images
- The reference to Day out with Thomas is not appropriate and should be removed
There, that'll do you for now! Don't be disheartened. If you tackle these points you could make it into a quite decent article.
Have fun!
EdJogg 23:52, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, you could probably keep more of the text you removed -- such as the inspiration for the character -- you just neeed to make sure the words are in a different order!
- Incidentally, when you wikilink to another article, you do not need to add the name twice Theodore Too , is fine (rather than Theodore Too , unless you wanted to refer to it by another name (for example, Two-door Theo produces Two-door Theo).

Uploading images
Well, you seem to have got the hang of uploading, although it is traditional to use a filename that has something to do with the picture...
It is better if the images can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, as they can be used on more than just the English-language Wikipedia, but learning about that can wait for another day.
Now, as you can see from the above message, WP is hot on ensuring Copyright is attributed properly. The image you have uploaded has been sourced from a website, and hence the copyright belongs to the owners of that website. You cannot say that YOU are the copyright holder, because you are not. There is the possibility that the copyright holder could release the photograph into the public domain, which would mean that anyone could use it for any purpose, including commercial purposes. (For this, it would be easiest if they uploaded the photo for you, and gave it the appropriate GFDL licence for anyone to use.) I am no expert on these matters, but there are pages elsewhere on WP where there are people who would be able to advise you better.
Alternatively, have a look on Flickr and elsewhere, in case you can find a picture that has been released on a GFDL and/or a 'Creative Commons' licence, as these should be available for us to use here. Alternatively again, ask someone on a Theodore Tugboat forum. Good luck!

Once again, thank you for joining the project, and happy editing. -- Scorpion0422 18:17, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: RFA
- Hello there, I do indeed. "RFA" is short for Requests for Adminship and is the process through which established editors can request, or be nominated, to be considered for a position as an administrator. Once a request has been filed, other editors review the nominee's contributions and history of involvement on the encyclopedia and hold a vote to determine the outcome of the request. As with everything on Wikipedia, it's not actually a vote, but a way of judging the community's consensus about the qualifications of the nominee. Because of that, nominees generally need at least 70% of the vote in order for their RfA to be successful and they be granted admin powers (also known as being "given the mop"). However, some RfA's have been accepted with lower support ratios, and some have been declined for higher ones. The best way to find out for yourself, I think would be to go to the nominations page at WP:RFA and participate in some of the discussions. It's often good for these discussions to have comments from people who don't really know the candidate, as that shows a wider range of opinions from around the community.
- By the way, here's a quick hint - usually when you see an editor refer to something with a acronym like RFA, COI, or POINT, they're actually referring to a specific process or policy by its shortcut, a redirect that allows us to make links to those policies faster without having to type out the whole name - which in the case of pages such as Wikipedia:No climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spider-Man, can be a great time-saver. To find a page using these shortcuts, just add WP: in front of the acronym and search for it. For example, that gives you WP:RFA (requests for adminship), WP:COI (conflict of interest), and WP:POINT (Don't disrupt Wikipedia to make a point - the actual policy that WP:REICHSTAG parodies).
- Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm always happy to help out. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:12, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

User page pictures
Just a friendly little warning. All those 'Thomas' pictures on your user page are (presumably) 'Free Use'. Well, Free Use images are not allowed on User pages...
Check elsewhere if you don't believe me, but like as not, someone will spot them before long and remove them.
Just trying to give you the chance to get in there first.
(BTW - some editors would also regard the fan fiction on your User page as inappropriate. Just so you know...)
EdJogg (talk) 01:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll remove them all now. The fan-fic will go on my TSW account. --S.C.Ruffeyfan (talk) 19:14, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- If I may say, that's a very sensible move. Better for you to act now rather than find a.n.other-user coming and editing your user page for you!
- EdJogg (talk) 22:18, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Friends?...
Hello S.C.Ruffeyfan! Have we met before?...
Can I be your friend over here aswell as at TSW?
Also, the sig at TSW... You can use it here too!! Just copy-and-past it into the same place as at TSW!!!

OK!--S.C.Ruffeyfan
Friends?
In reply to the comment you left on my talk page. Sure, we can be friends. Kinda new to me since I haven't made much "Friends" on here except for Felixcheng and Bob 2.0. Driveus 09:23, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Driveus. BTW you can call me Alex --S.C.Ruffeyfan 20:08, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

- Oh just call me Zip I'm called that everywhere (except for SiF and MRF). Driveus (talk) 08:32, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
OK Zip. Are you a member of Train Spotting World? BTW what's MRF? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:51, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Model Railway Forum. Its where lots of youtubers like Clearwaterfan and simierski hang out and show their model railway works. I've even made some N scale models and posted them on the forum. And no I'm not a member of train spotting world as I have no interest (sorry). Driveus (talk) 10:53, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Dude, it's OK about TSW. I might join MRF when I'm older. I'm making a Thomas series called 'The Thomas Adventures'. It has an ep called A Hamburger Too Many which is about TFC going to McDonald's on Sodor and he orders 10000000000000000 burgers from them! Here's a quote:
TFC: Yeah, I'll have a gazillion Big Macs.
WORKER: Weren't you here these past few hours?
TFC: Whatever, JUST GIMME DA BURGAHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Re: Template for page?
I can give it a shot. What sort of thing are you looking for? Your userpage seems to be fairly well organized already. Are you looking for a better design in general, or just some way to more easily update those sections, like I have on my awards page and userboxes? Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:24, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
A better design, like a toolbar. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hm. It'll take some time to get this to work with everything you have, but is something like this what you're looking for?
Template:User label top Template:User label en Template:User label WPKind Template:User label bottom
- If you could, leave a reply on my user talk page, as I'm likely to forget. Finals next week, so things tend to slip through the cracks a bit. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:33, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, it is OK, but in the UK, they show it 24/7, which does get boring after a while. Sorry if I annoyed you. :-( --S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi SC,
Just thought i'd ask you - we need way more users at TrainSpottingWorld and PlaneSpottingWorld. If you think any users might be interested, please just drop them a message saying to come and take a look - we are about to launch TruckSpottingWorld, but cannot do so until we get more members!
Thanks,

OK. But I wouldn't reccomend just ringing on the bell, walking in and saying "I am a fan of TtTE and I want S12 pics" Writing would be better. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 10:26, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Just a question
How do I add userboxes to my page? User: PercytheGreen, 23:58, April 01, 2008
Well: you find a userbox that you want, and copy and paste the template onto your page. ie. user mrbean produces
The user is a SUPER FAN of Mr. Bean. |
Happy playing! --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:24, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
