FireStar- I asked you nicely not to post the names of my friends, but when we went there this morning, there they were again. As usual, I have done everything you asked and all I get in return is treachery. Hasn't been a week since we had this war ended. You started it back up again by unprotecting the page and letting the Bulshido guys harass my friends. I don't want to come here and argue with you. I have already proven a hundred times that the only purpose this entry serves is harassment and asked you to take it down. You insist on hounding me when I have done nothing to warrant it. How Do I Stop Threatening Messages?

Please forgive me if I'm not doing this correctly because it's my first attempt. I keep getting threatening messages to desist from vandalizing pages which I can assure you I've NEVER done. I LOVE this site and have never ever given a thought to edit any material. I'm wondering if it's because I have an AOL account. I can assure that as an editor, I have nothing but respect for the work you do here and would never be rude enough to transgress on the privilege to use its resources. If you are getting messages that don't make sense, and you have AOL, it is possible that you are getting messages intended for someone else. We recommend that you create a user account. It is almost instantaneous. With a username, you'd have a user page and, more importantly, a talk page, where people could discuss the articles you've been editing with you. Also, your edits are probably more likely to be taken as good faith if you contribute as registered user than under an anonymous IP. Other benefits? See here.

Your reaction seemed appropriate in that you had a point that you wanted to make, which is fine IMO except for except for the one little bit I factored out. If the anon had done similarly I would have factored that out as well. They may have somewhere else for all I know, I only looked at the above link. They may have implied that anyone who disagreed with them was a brownshirt, but no one can actually call another user a little Nazi anything without consequences. WP:NPA is clear on this and is a non-negotiable policy. It is part of my job to gently remind users of that. I'm glad you people are discussing things, Rhobite has been around a long time and knows the ropes well enough to provide valuable advice. I understand why you had to take the action you did. I personally disagree that the rule should be absolute, but I don't get to make that decision. I simply object to Grazon's using Wikipedia as a platform to smear his political opponents and then having the gall to complain when called on it, even if he was called forcefully - which anyone who belittles the threat that the Nazis were by comparing lesser "offenses" to Nazism should be, in my opinion. The problem: I use this IP too, so you sort of created collateral damage, and I couldn't reach you because I haven't got the possibility to send e-mails. This is a great shame - wiki provides access to information without the responsibility that comes from learning it from a teacher in the old tradition. Hey the Arbitration Committee indefinitely blocked Haizum!

Hi Fire Star, I don't know if you remember Haizum, but he's been blocked from editing on Wiki for an indefinite amount of time, but there is no reason really specified. The only thing I can think of why is that they didn't take a clearer look at what happened when Haizum blanked out that George W. Bush article. You and I now know that he didn't mean to vandalize the page, but it looks like the committee didn't dig deep enough to see what happened, nor did they even bothered to read the discussion page. Thank you for your fairness in adjucating the Ashida Kim issue between him and people who wish to publicize the results of investigations into his claims and statements. While we at Bullshido might not always agree with the outcomes that Wikipedia decides, we know that they come from a legit process of considering all the presented evidence.

As a result of this, I've recently started a Martial arts therapy article based on research I did on the topic, and have cited proper studies regarding the topic. I hope it becomes a mainstay and frequently visited area of Wikipedia as I continue to find more information on the topic.

Ranges cont.

Hello, Good points. I can agree that there some systems that may train within various ranges however are these system as "all encompassing" as studying different specific systems designed for particular ranges? Maybe we could incorporate the "All Encompassing" statement to something like:

Although some martial system may train within various ranges there is a limit to what techniques can be studied within a particular "Closed" sytem. An electic approach on the other hand such as JKD can "Borrow" whatever it needs from other systems since this is a property and advantage of an "Open" system thus encompassing greater choice of inclusion.

We could also maybe say that: Traditional system Typically or usually only delve into one or two ranges but that some do within the context of a "Closed System". I just want to make sure that we define the differences between "Open" and "Closed" systems. This is NOT a bash on Traditional systems for without them electic systems would not exist. I have had numerous discussions with traditionalits on this subject and a general consenus is that many eclectics do NOT concede this fact. I tend to look at eclecticism as a natural progression of traditional system rather than this is better than that philosophy.

Your point about the arts that Lee studied tend to lean towards his "Personal JKD" rather than the "Process JKD" version that the article should represent. Also, I wouldn't say that Lee was saying that Traditional system were impractical only that he was correct about the progression and evolution that martial arts would take in real "Compat situations". MMA Contests being as real to streets fights and combat as you can get without folks killing each other. Current MMA contests prove that if fighters do NOT diversity amongst arts of various ranges they will NOT succeed. I don't belive there are any current fighters out there that ONLY study one system and have been successful in these contests. Maybe we can say something along those grounds? The first part of what you said is good; we could add:

MMA fighters using Lee's principles have been highly successful in MMA contests. Lee's philosophy (or variations of it) seems to be utilized by almost the entire MMA competition world.

The second part about JKD fighters is somewhat problematic because the JKD principles and notions that we are talking about have been incorporated into the MMA world without the label. In other words fighters are utilizing the approach without knowing from which it came. 2 Articles - Choi Kwang-Do and Jung Sin Yuk-Do

I have edited and created the original article Jung Sin Yuk-Do and had edit ed to and added to the article Choi Kwang-Do. Since Jung Sin Yuk-Do is an off-shoot, a break-away from Choi Kwang-Do, it's concepts although similar, are different, it's outcomes slightly different, and it's approach, slightly different. I am sure you would understand the difference between one martial arts and another, even subtle differences. The article(s) however are continually being edited and changed by a Choi Kwang-Do Instructor with an IP address of 220.235.249.146 (although unfortunately, it seems often static, but sometimes dynamic IP)and this person is on a mission to discredit as many ex-CKD Instructors as he can. What has happened is that one person has broken away from the main organisation. And then all of a sudden (and this is my POV) ive noticed that this person has been coming onto WIKI, going onto other martial arts sites (www.martialartsplanet.com as an example) and doing his best to discredit the art for whatever reason.

Some of the things he's saying has been out of order in the eyes of some CKD instructors and from that arguments have ensued as you can see on the CKD page.

So please feel free to email me. I will be happy to give you my opinion on CKD or any of the issues brought up. And by all means contact the persons who are editing the article in ways that WIKI arent happy with.

Stephen Hayes and other ninja masters release fight videos called guaranteed black belt course . Ashida Kim has denounced this saying it is against the law of bullshido and they are all frauds. He counts hatsumi as a mentor but he has enemity with his students.

Thanks for the updates on the Wu Quanyou article. Any copyright violations were unintentional I used some of that article as it one of the most interesting accounts that I have found. The original article was only meant to be a draft and I look forward to your contributions. Moy Lin-shin

Hi I really have nothing invested one way or the other but by way of excuse there was a little edit war over at the list of famous Aikidoka where deletions were more political than factual. Rightly or wrongly I had the same impression here. In the Moy Lin-shin article it does not say it is not a martial art nor that the founder disavowed it as such. I'll let it go but suggest that the Moy Lin-shin article should be altered a tad. If the person who put the entry in feels strongly enough I am sure he'll say so. Stephen K. Hayes

Greetings, and first thanks for all the patient work you did to neutralize the POV-pushing in context of the Ashida Kim article. Something similar is now happening with Stephen K. Hayes, although things haven't escalated as far as with Kim (and hopefully never will). Could you please take some time to review that article? Dim Mak

Hi Fire Star. It is interesting to hear that Dim Mak is considered to be “something specifically from the criminal underworld and was considered dishonorable” and I accept that it may not be a part of the Tai Chi Chuan martial art in its most aggressive form i.e. with the aim to kill.

The reason that I say that is that, although my teacher teaches us techniques that attack pressure points, acupoints and manipulate joints to cause pain or to incapacitate (see http://www.taichichuan.co.uk/information/wudang_tai_chi.html click Syllabus for reference to Dim Mak) there isn’t anything in there that would be aimed at directly killing an opponent.

You are right, I am interested in the idea that certain aspects of the Chinese martial arts are considered to be “evil” and that idea certainly reflect my wife’s view from her experience of growing up in Taiwan. She considers most martial arts to be associated with criminal gangs and I think she only tolerates my practice of Tai Chi Chuan because of the positive healing aspects that are part of the art.

Our martial art seems to have struggled with its public image for a long time, in the sense that on the one hand it is said to be a very effective martial art and on the other promote good health and longevity. To many it seems difficult to resolve this apparent dichotomy, but once one understands the philosophy and the practice then all can start to make sense.

Perhaps, as part of this struggle with its public image and in an effort to promote Tai Chi Chuan as an exercise for good health, it has become more difficult to talk of such “evils” as Dim Mak in public simply because of its association with Triad gangs etc. It does make sense!

I have no qualifying language other than the Wudang style has a skill set known as Dim Mak and by association assume that the other “martial” styles of Tai Chi Chuan have the same.

As Wikipedia is not the forum for controversial discussions, I accept your decision to remove the Dim Mak reference if you feel that is more respectful to the Wu family teachers; I will leave that up to you. Good to talk to you again. Cheers Realtaichi 19:55, 7 February 2006 (UCT)

Yang Shaohou’s martial art is said to have included Chin Na techniques and also techniques that utilise acupressure points and other pressure points to cause pain in order to disrupt an opponent’s intent. This is sometimes incorrectly referred to as Dim Mak 點脈, which is a black art designed to cause severe injury or even death. Please re-word as you see fit.

List of martial arts

Hi, you seen to walk into the same dilemma as I do. You entioned moving entries from e chapter "Notable styles ..." to the list of martial arts. I also have a set of martial arts styles which make up only a few lines each - to short for a complete article but to long for the list of martial arts. Tai Chi Gong

I have been trying to do some research on the origins of the Wudang system’s 24 set Neigong exercises, as I understand it the Wu Family’s 24 set Neigong system is similar, and I cannot find any reference to this Neigong system in any of the other styles.

Do you believe that the 24 set Neigong comes from the Yang family or from the Wu family or from another source?

I wonder if you could help?

It all sounds very interesting and have spent many hours trying to research Tai Chi Gong related issues.

The best documented information that I have found that is all in one place on the Internet is at this URL http://hk.geocities.com/taichi8118/air.html , which has the individual names, some of the aspects they train and also some information on the TCM aspects. Let me know what you think and your opinion on the authenticity of the information. The names and training aspects correlate pretty much with the transmission that I have. OVERVIEW The event is open to the general public, and begins in the earliest time zones of New Zealand at 10 am, and then unfolds across Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America, with celebrations in sixty nations and several hundred cities, ending with the final events in the last time zones of Hawaii. Celebrations include mass tai chi and chi kung exhibitions in many cities, and free teach-ins in most participating cities.
