Costa Serena is the newest cruise ship of the Costa Cruises fleet, and has been characterized by the line as its flagship.The name Serena was intended to symbolize harmony and serenity. The ship was constructed at Sestri Ponente. Her sister ship, the Costa Concordia was launched two years ago. The two ships are the largest and longest ships in the Costa Cruises fleet. A third sister ship, the Costa Pacifica, will be launched in 2009.

Inaugural Event

May 19th, 2007 marked the day of the Costa Serena's inaugural event. The event was held in Marseille, France. At night, fireworks lit up the sky as the Costa Serena sat in the Old Port of Marseilles.
